Famille Brunier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Piedlong

90% Grenache 10% Mouvedre, there's an elegant lightness to the wine's colour and body despite the hefty 14.5% abv. Tart fruits lead - strawberry, raspberry, red cherry - backed up by slightly green edge with garrigue herbal notes. There's a rocky minerality to it, leaning towards savoury but I think it's still too fresh to show meatiness yet, maybe in years to come with age. Mouthwatering acidity, dusty tannins. Delicious wine and very moreish, sadly my only bottle.

Totally agree with the previous review. Was a little thin……… wasn’t at all unpleasant, just very light…….if you have some now time to drink them!!!

This was a elegant wine. 90% Grenache, 10% Mouvedre. Somewhat earthy. Bright cherry, a little baking spice, and mineral tones for me and a bit acidic. Better with food. We had it with pizza. A tad too acidic for my palate but I tend to prefer a bit less acidity in wines.

Light in colour, complex flavours and a long finish. Typically moreish CDP but slight acidity

Excellent, full bodied, well balanced, plenty of fruit and complexity from beginning to end, well proportioned tannins did not dominate, very satisfying.

I found this being fresh and elegant. Drunk from a Pinot Noir glass. Cherry compot, blueberry, strong lavender, baked clay, black pepper. Light and fresh entry with sour red and blue fruit flavors, grainy tanning and a lingering floral finish. Very pretty.

Red fruit moving fairly quickly into a blast of pepper, herbs, heat and tang, lingering long on good tannin and big acidity.

Tasted in parallel to 2015 La Crau. This one more aggressive, a gust of heat, lavender and sage.

An agreeable, forward, fruit-driven CdP but nothing profound.

Slightly sour, almost a volatile note, a little wood glue, red hued fruits. Fresh but the fruit a little muted/stripped with talc textured tannins. Hmm.

The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Piedlong (90% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre) is a wine of contrasts. On one hand it is full-bodied and impresses with its intense concentration of flavor, and on the other manages to feel light on its with superb acidity that imparts energy, freshness, and overall balance. The nose is beautifully pronounced, showing traces of raspberry, blueberry, rose petal, red licorice and spice. This is a knockout effort that can be enjoyed now or cellared for the coming 12-14 …

Violets, meat, black plums on the nose. Intense charge of sweet fruit on the palate with a clear spread of acid, soft tannins, and a slightly medicinal back note. Some lovely echos here, but what are they echos of? Not sure there is a center. 50 + 17 + 16 + 7= 90.

Light in color, soft, refined and fresh, this is a delicate, feminine, forward styled wine that will be best tasted young for maximum enjoyment of all its spicy, fresh cherries and strawberry notes. The wine was made using a blend of 90% Grenache with 10% Mourvedre.
