Envinate, Tinta Amarela Valdemedel, Extremadura

Incredible. Opened tight with high-toned notes of Blackberry and Pomegranate, with those notes echoing on the long finish with some volcanic rock and stone notes. With air, everything got amplified and numerous citrus notes of orange, lime and lemon were balanced by deep cherry and blackberry “briary” notes. The next day, even better as the mouthfeel smoothed out and it exhibited more nance and elegance. Just at the beginning of its drinking window- 10 more years easily.

Bouquet cannot be contained. Daring, bloody, floral, charcoal, and nectarine. With a sweet, mouth-filling, mouth- watering and ultimately very adult finish. Really sexy.

Color of young claret but nothing like it in smell and taste. Deep, sweet and savory black fruits with an ultra adult finish.

Black fruit and minerality and then salt and purple open fruit, and structure but a pure mid palate. That is really darn delicious. Barbara notes a black tea like flavor that is super darn interesting.

Dark fruit meets bing cherries and crushed pits. Substantive and fruit forward (for this producer) with a finish of unripe seeds. The most affable of the lineup. Drink over the next couple of years, maybe with a little chill on it.

Another great wine from the Envinate collective. Same style as the other wines but different aromatics. Concentrated, dark cherries, good freshness, smooth tannins and mineral backbone. Really good.
