Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Rouvrettes

Opened for an hour, nose of leather, violets, cola and strawberries. Bit on the acidic side, with a hint of lemon rind as the wine developed; better with food (wonderfully paired with Copper River salmon). All in all nicely crafted given the vintage and in prime drinking window now.

This is a very tasty, easy drinking wine, Just a great pleasure. Fine on its own but also nice with garlic shrimp. In its drinking window, but no great hurry.

Popped and poured. Nice nose and palate of cherry cola. C-O-L-A cola co-co-co-co-cola. Not as good as the 2010, but very nice.

Lovely color. The nose is more subtle and elegant, showing aromas of red fruits, flowers, spice and minerals. This is medium full bodied on the palate with very good concentration and lovely finesse. The long finish shows sophisticated tannins.
