Quinta dos Roques Dão

Real wine at an attractive price. Nicely ripe with dark fruit and a cool, menthol (?) edge in the background. Just a little earthy funk in the background. Fruit driven palate with spice on the finish. Mild tannins, med/low acidity. A bit light on structure; doesn't have the flavor arc of a top-end wine. But great complexity and delicious factor.

Boysenberry, coffee, vanilla, moss, stems, mineral, fresh, alcohol poking through. Meduim bodied, mineral, a good ammount of alcohol, drying tannin, medium to light acid. Fresh and mineral while being a bit weighted down by tannin. A few years in bottle will help. Well made, good material.

Deep ruby. Cassis, black sugar, bandaid, and a certain freshness. Mineral, red chili pepper, alcohol, very very dry and dulling. Not entirely enjoyable. Probably on the down hill.

Could benefit from a little more aging.

Great stuff. Reminds me of a light, spicy, pre-Parker CdR. Sweet, sweaty, brambly and red. Cranberry, mineral, acid and refined tannin. Nothing fake here. Quite different than the 06. Really fell apart on day 2. 90 -> 88.

Je me rappellerai toujours du millésime 1995 que j'avais goûté à l'édition 2000 du Salon des vins de Montréal. Il était très bon et avait très bien tenu la route avec les années. Je ne peux en dire autant des millésimes récents. Qu'il en a perdu des plumes! Notes de cannelle, de cerise et autres nuances. Bouche aux tanins qui manquent de finition. Je lui préfère le Fuzion à presque la moitié du prix. Devenu l'ombre de lui-même...
