Pretty burgundian nose of tart black fruit, earth, and hint of oak. Airy, elegant palate, gentle tannin, lots of acid, again a noticeable hint of oak. This is not a showstopper and it won't make old bones, but it's pretty and it's nice to go back to some gentler, less ripe vintages after the 15/17/18/19/20 run. I might prefer a tad less oak though.

Tasted blind on night 1. Red cherry, floral nose with some mint. Long, high pitched high acid syrupy red fruit. Had a vigour and tension to it that is beautiful, along with inner perfume of rose petals and red fruits. The Sigaut is a step up in all regards of intensity, silkiness, acid, drive. Fantastic wine. 96 Plus 1 day. Deeper and more subdued nose with a bit of poo. Bright palate, high acid, gets silkier with air. 95.

The appealingly savory and evolving bouquet keeps you coming back. Good density but not bold, mostly dark fruits but not without some strawberry, cranberries, smoke, and herbs to keep things fresh. Nice balance and acid. A beautiful instance of the underrated 2014 Burgundies, which seem to be drinking just great right now, (though based on my tiny sample, Nuits may be better than Beaune).

(2014 tasting; 3 x Morey 1er, 3 x Chambolle 1er, 3 x Volnay 1er) Medium-fullish nose with development. Red fruit and cranberry. Milk chocolate from oak. Spicy and slightly animaly. Medium-fullish palate. Red and black fruit. A bit harsh tannins. Spicy and tasty. Very good concentration and intensity. But also a bit rustic.

The presicion here is crazy high. This wine is laser focused and balancing an incredible depth of flavours with vibrant red silky fruit, its slightly more dense than my other 2014 references chambolle. Its somewhat ’modern’ but indeniably pure and plush texured in a fabulous way. Very nice. Easily 94. This can go to 95-96 in a couple of years. Its all in there.

Deep red cherry nose. Bright pretty cherry with some poo. Beautiful mix of sour and jubey red cherry. Growing in length the more air it has. 94 With more air grew to 95. Plus one night. Red currant, hint of black currant. Very good. 95.

Very pretty. Just what I want from Chambolle - light, delicate red fruit with a lot of florality on the nose, and some light spice and earthiness in the background. There's a faint touch of oak noticeable here but it's woven into the fruit and other florality, and doesn't distract from the whole. It's light on its feet with fairly gentle tannin and bright acidity giving it most of its structure, and a nice sense of refreshment on the palate.

Terrific. Dark fruit with a little leather type note on the nose. Fabulous dark cherry fruit. Still tannic.

2014 Hervé Sigaut Chambolle Musigny and Morey St. Denis (Dig Wines, San Francisco) : Light red. Green and minty on the nose. Light, elegant feel, some sweetness of cherry fruit, moderate tannic bite. Very good. This provides a good snapshot of both Chambolle and the vintage.
