Dark red/black colour. Aromas of woods, oak and some maturity. Perhaps some leather. Concentrated and tannic. I believe this could need a few more years. I kept it for eleven years, but it will improve with further storing, I believe.

Half bottle. Ruby/purple color. Some dark fruit aromas and pine needles. Medium+ weight with an earthy base that carries through to the long finish. Dark blueberry fruit, dark spices, very good acidity, and tannins admixed with bitter chocolate at the end. Truly excellent now and with years to go even out of this small format. A real delight with cassoulet on a dreary, rainy, cool evening.

Deep tawny in color, showing age. Nose is intense, dried meat, Provence herbs, prunes. Tannins are fully tamed and soft.fresh, Full body, good intensity of flavours, coats the mouth with licorice, ginger bread and herbs. Long aftertaste with some bitter coffee beans and licorice. Not an easy wine to like but grows on you with its development.

Complex and inticing nose. Medicinal : eucalyptus, mint, orange peel. Black fruits blackcurrant, cassis. Nice juicy crunchy acidity still very alive. Finish is dark and bold. Wine needs to breath to show its full potential. I recommend at least one hour on karaffe.

Interesting to drink after the 2010 Tempier Tourtine I had a few days before. This was way more rustic and darker. Classic Mourvedre nose, earthy, leather. Chewy and dense, not a generous wine in the sense you have to work for it. Maybe it was the bottle but it seems to be in a shut down phase.

So, I had a great bottle of the 2007 X a few months back and was curious about whether the wine receiving normal élévage would show just as well. It is a bit younger seeming and more fiercely tannic than the X but still very enjoyable right now with the rich Flannery Picanha. Brmbly fruit and lots of garrigue and that unmistakeable bark-like note I get from Pradueax. Less of the florals that can come with age but plenty of …

Coravin first glass. Very mature almost jammy which isn’t my favourite. No tannins left at all and fruit is dried plums and overripe.

Opened 3 hours before. Beautiful mature red color with no brown showing. Very mature nose with prunes and medicin cabinet dominating. Its tannins are almost gone and with only little acidity present I fear for my opinion. But with food it lives again. Good mature wine with prunes, leather, earth, metal and wood. Warm and with little "bite" I found it good to drink it at 17-18 Celsius.

From the coravin by the glass list at Park Avenue Wines (Portland, OR). My first time with this producer and I quite enjoyed this wine. Lots of bramble and rustic garrigue here, dark fruits and spice and just quite tasty. The structure is here for continued aging and it would be fun to taste an older vintage. Something to seek out in future.

This was ravishingly and energetically tight and closed tonight right from the bottle. The juice is inky ruby purple, and there were prominent dusty tannins on the finish, which closes off sharply at the moment. Mesquite and berry aromas leap from the glass, and there's quite a large, polished, and mature frutti di bosco note. A slight chill flattered this baby. I have a few more bottles and will wait 5 years at a minimum. Patience for this wonderfully traditional …

Huge earthy tannins cloak a wonderful core of dark berry. Either we got used to those tannins or it calmed down after 20 or 30 minutes in the glass. The nose is very attractive if not overly complex or flamboyant.

A revelation. The last of 6, by far the best. The tannins have at last died down, leaving a full-bodied but soft and enveloping blend of jammified garrigue strawberries with herbs, nutmeg and cassis. Incredible persistence, perfect poise and balance. I've tasted several of the more trendy Bandols from 98, but this is much better. Just wish I had more. Best bottle of the year which puts to shame any Bordeaux 98 tasted.

Primary ruby color. Medium weight, attractive glycerine that gives a good, mouth coating feel. Spice and blueberry fruit, good drive, and the tannins which stuck out 9 months ago seemed much tamer now. I really liked this as a hearty winter wine with a beef roast.

Robe assez évoluée et profonde. Sur le fruit cuit, cassis, sous-bois et fumé. Belle complexité, mériterais être décanté quelques heures. Peu encore agréablement évolué. Bonne longueur en bouche.

Dark ruby center with minimal lightening. Blueberry and menthol. Lovely ripe blueberry fruit and spice on the attack, medium weight with no heat or overripeness whatsoever. Fantastic energy and back end minerality, brown spices, and grainy tannins which still need to resolve. The deep soil on the finish coats the mouth for several minutes.

Could use a few more years in the bottle. Tannins were heavier at the end, but some blueberry on the nose and at the front of the pallate. Other than in need of some time, a very nice bottle made from a very old grape.

Popped and poured. Beautiful deep garnet color with dark reflections. Needed air and time. Much better on day two. Eventually, it had a very complex and subtle nose of cherry and blueberry, licorice, leather, bramble and minerals, occasional light floral scents. Hints of sweet spices. In the mouth, strong minerals, strong acid, big tannins and alcohol. Very long and vinous, slight dustiness. Not an easy wine. I will buy more of this, but for drinking in 2020+. Right now, I …

89+ pts

This has started to close a little bit and tannins are more upfront on the finish. Still it is a great Bandol with beautiful cherry fruit and a touch of blueberry. Great balance and never heavy. More austere than the previous bottles. Time to forget them a little while.

Medium red, showing bit of age. Nice soft berry mourvedre nose, quite aromatic - menthol? Some leather, ripe, some tannins on finish but now mellowed out and ready. Good if a touch rustic round the edges.

Very rich medium tannins that contribute to an extremely long finish. Paired with the wrong dish ( an herb roasted chicken ) but should pair well with a meat dish.

Visiting Chateau Pradeaux in July, 2013 (Chateau Pradeaux, Bandol) : Warm year, higher alcohol (14.5%), maybe faster developing. I prefer the 2008. Some tobacco and licorice, plums, dried plums on the nose, smells serious. Already started a bit to mellow on the palate, full, acidity OK, maybe more tannic than the 2008.

this is a wine to go after if you like uniqueness and character, berries and clouds of dust on the nose, very earth-driven and dry, dried flowers, lavender, tree bark, cocoa and black plum on the palate, quite complex, quite young, these drink well now and can sleep for a decade or more, an overall powerful young Bandol

Half bottle. Deep color. Berryish fruit and licorice with just a touch of alcohol on the nose. Medium weight. Raspy red and black fruit with good sense of minerality and strong acidity. As opposed to the nose, not overripe in the mouth. This definitely needs some time to round off the more jagged edges.

This is now ready for business, the tannins have finally lowered their profile. Good nose of prunes, figs and a whiff of garrigue strawberries, the latter dominating the flavours, with some cherry and a touch of kirsch. Tastes like a spicy Margaux, very enjoyable.

Apres 4 heures d'ouverture: Superbe nez, très belle complexité, notes d'épices , de figues confites, de pruneaux. Très belle attaque en bouche, beaux arômes, longueur correcte, tannins encore marqués malgré son âge.

Unbelievable, still a bit closed. We tasted this alongside the other top Bandol wines (Tempier, Pibarnon, Ott, etc, etc) and the Pradeaux stood out as the most tannic and backward of them all (both the 1998 and the 2004 Pradeaux were tasted). It has just the faintest nose of oxidization, a fairly sweet core of fruit, but a bit unbalanced towards the acid side. I'm not buying any Pradeaux more, due to this backwardness, and who wants to wait 20 …
