Pronounced aromas of honeysuckle, golden delicious apple, pear, apricot, brioche, ginger, toffee, toasted hazelnut, and wet stone. Medium+ acidity, fine creamy mousse, and long toasty and nutty finish. In a fantastic spot right now - still can’t stop thinking about it!

Wow, what a distinct style! Oxidative, nutty, yeasty, with red apple and wild burning thyme smells. My wife’s first reaction was “This tastes like the champagne of yesteryear.” I guess that’s about as much of a vindication of old-school as it gets. Absolutely unique combination of ripe apple, light citrus, crushed rock minerality and that dried herbal note i’ve not encountered in a champagne before. By any standards, let alone 2007, brilliant. Score: 95. Relative to expectations : +++

From magnum. Completely different style to the Filaine alongside, clearly Pinot-dominant with spicy red apple fruit but with a much more rustic, old-school feel. Slightly coarse and creamy with some ginger notes, quite a singular wine from a bygone era - just not sure if it is worth the current tariff.

not blind I preferred the 2015 against 2016. Fresh and with a acidity backbone. Too young. 93

not blind from Magnum Even in weak vintages Marie Noelle can make a gem. Herbal but very precise in the finish. Saline. Many years ahead. 93-94

Excellent showing. The nose is just beautiful, with creamy, sparkly red fruit and yellow gingery notes, and with a little bit of air, some prominent saline notes too. It's precise and detailed and understated on nose, refined and elegant. It shows some of the richness that accumulates with a bit of bottle age. All of this follows through to the palate, which is so bright and energetic, and whose flavors really resonate. The bead slows after 3 hours and maybe …

La Festa del Barolo Gala Dinner (The Pool in NYC) : Champagne with dinner because one should always have champagne to start. This is in that mineral, chalky, crisp, super dry style. Very easy to drink. Didn't last past the first course but also because glasses were at a premium.

Great showing. The nose is rich with dark fruit, and there are hints of roast almonds and pastry dough, and there is a strong sense of salt and chalk, even on the nose. After drinking several other wines by this producer on the same evening, it makes it easier for me to see that Goulte really is the top wine in the portfolio. Even on the nose this can be seen, in the breadth and complexity of aroma. The palate …

Great showing of this. Starting to emerge. Supremely elegant and layered. Goulte has a different texture, smoother but with greater amplitude than the Brut natures.

Bigger and richer than the Brut Nature wines earlier. The nose is spicy and full with tons of energy. In a good spot. Lots of ginger and spice. Lemon and ginger full but great acid and verve. Energy to burn. Salty finish.

Showing very well. Richness and detail, lovely fruit that is tempered with a wash of chalky saline minerality. Silky texture, and the wine spreads on the palate, feels broad and still focused. Lovely, still plenty of upside.

Hasn't changed much since I had it 3 years ago, but this is fantastic nonetheless. Vibrant citrus and pear fruits framed by gingery spice and lots of sweeter doughy and brioche flavours, all conveyed with remarkable finesse and polish on the palate. Still quite youthful though - I'll leave my other bottles alone for some more time.

Beautiful, with a huge attack of yeast, rich lemon, spice. Rich body, excellent acidity and minerality. Added even more yeast/brioche with time, and still young & improving. Very very nice.

2hrs of air. Beautiful nose of lemon zest, chalk & brioche. Extremely focused on the palate, with tons of chalky/mineral goodness. Agree with others that this one could use a little time sideways to develop. Outstanding.

Green apple, lemon peel, and plenty of biscuity autolysis notes. Not a shy wine, certainly, with a great attack, fruity and spicy, and after an hour begins to show more minerality and spice. Needs time.

Great stuff. Starts out full of savoury doughy and brioche notes around a core of fresh lemon and pear fruit, and with air more exotic gingery spicy elements and minerally accents emerge. There's great balance, depth and a sense of purity to the flavours here and it's a wine I'm glad to have more of.

This wine has really shut down hard in the last few months. Very shy, took a while to open. Very mineral and elegant while the bubbles were a little agressive. Then started to show more red berries with more elegant bubbles. Powerful but very elegant and restrained at the same time with a great minerality.

Really a very promising wine, and this is not to say that isn't delicious now - it is absolutely delicious. It needs a bit of time to unwind. There are delicate pasty dough aromas but once the fruit emerges, it is more dominant on both the nose and the palate. And it is beautiful fruit, complex and fresh, and flecked through with refreshing citrus peel. The wine feels ample in the mouth and has a lovely silky texture, even on …
