Domaine Vincent and Sophie Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets

Showing great tonight, immediately out of the bottle this was singing. Flinty match stick reduction, piercing acidity and dense citrus fruit. Drank this next to a slightly advanced 19’ Dauvissat Preuses, which the PYCM absolutely dominated.

Shy at first, coiled up and reticent. Demands a bit of air, but after 30 minutes this put on weight in the glass and started showing plenty of rich citrus fruit and sharp acidity. Precise and detailed, with lots of energy.

Alas, I let this go too long, it’s on the other side of its peak. Still decent but oh, what might have been. Note to self: even Premier Cru White Burgundies seldom take ten years for ideal drinking. 4-11-16-7: 88/100.

Absolutely loved this wine. Oily with a strong petrol presence, but utterly enjoyable. Probably has several years left on it. Wish I had more!!

Started off smokey on the nose, kind of like electricity sparks and opened up after a few hours to show peaches and maybe even nectarines in a soft way. Palate showed more fruit than smoke in a medium + body that begged you to drink more. I loved the balance of smoke with fruit and how well they played off each other without feeling too heavy. Excellent bottle and probably has a few more years to go with no harm.
