Peculiar nose, somewhat molded, a wet cellar on a warm summer day; taste completely different, nice, raspberry, soft and rounded with a lightness to it

Took a little while to open up then was a solid wine.

Consumed over two nights, and after having initially been a PnP decanting, and after 24 hours, I could finally get this to the scores others have shown. This needs several hours of air to the me to the promise land. And thus, shant see another bottle for 5 years. At the outset, it seemed like something was amiss. Couldn't explain it. Reduced? Oxidized? Other? Anyway, after an entire day, the additional air gave this a huge boost in quality, and …

Precisely the right time to open and enjoy. Enjoyed with open faced, stuffed, Poblano peppers. Absolutely outstanding! Extremely well balanced, late sweetness follows a lingering current, cherry forward. The tannins invite the back upper sides of the mouth to a party. My wife and I loved it!

This continues to improve. Black cherry, boysenberry, roasted herbs. Smooth with a good finish.

Hahaaa the red fruit nose gave this away quite quickly, all the lads said Pinot! And all but one said NW (new world) too, however they were torn between NZ and Australian. Turns out.. its a Napa wine! Red cherries classical NW nose, perhaps a little young and needed some coaxing to open up. Reminds me of a brighter Geelong By Farr type style, but with more earthy notes in turn Burgundian style which was very enjoyable. Late sweetness and …

revisiting this eighteen months later… fairly similar in the nose and mouth as before: "strong smokey mineral whiff in the nose that dissipates enough to let the perfume thru: rose petals, blood orange, sous-bois and wisps of clove enhance the red cherry and pomegranate fruit notes. medium bodied in the mouth, it has a decidedly savoury character with green herbal notes mixing in with the fairly rich red and black fruit and spicy accents; noticeable acidity and polished tannins are …

With Salmon at BC….. Very solid with great acidity, light berries and feminine floral nose. Started to fade at about 2 hour mark.

Lovely Pinot. Balanced and flavorful. Forgot what I paid but would buy again in the $30-range.

Pinot Tasting and Dinner at the Tates : Nose: Stronger red fruit Palate: a little heat; shorter finisher. It feels a bit early 14.5ABV Went back later in the night and the heat blew off. It settled down and was getting better. Good potential but needs more time.

World of Pinot Noir - 3/5/23 - quick impressions : Ample ripeness, leaning on black cherry and fig, with classic Calera muscular minerality along with mushroom/soil, hibiscus and spices. Refined and polished, lifted and elegant through the finish. Very nice.

Mount Harlan Estate tasting at Calera (Hollister) : transluscent ruby colour in the glass with medium body. strong smokey mineral whiff in the nose that dissipates enough to let the perfume thru: rose petals, blood orange, sous-bois and wisps of clove enhance the red cherry and pomegranate fruit notes. medium bodied in the mouth, it has a decidedly savoury character with green herbal notes mixing in with the fairly rich red and black fruit and spicy accents; noticeable acidity and …

I think I’m a little biased toward this style of pinot. It smells really floral, cherry fruit and even kind of flowery. On the palate it’s quite light and bright. The high alcohol doesn’t make for a big wine surprisingly. It’s has a lot of acidity and medium to medium low tannins. I even tasted a little minerality coming through. Paired with wagyu steaks (the meat could maybe have matched better with a more powerful wine).

Berries, fruity. Minerally, well balanced, old world, raspberries, a touch of vanilla and licorice, medium ending. Very young but already good.

I spent $115.76 through Duckhorn's wine club. Yes, a very nice Pinot. Not worth the cost, not nearly. Once you hit three figures for a bottle of wine it has to be better than "very nice." #IJS
