My first bottle from a case. Opened at Keens and enjoyed it with porterhouse and mutton chop. Lots of sediment. Good but not great.

Wow what a great wine. Consumed crossing the Atlantic in a specialty Tuscan restaurant, had with Porterhouse and associated trimmings. Part of our two bottle allowance to bring wines on board, the other being the DR Stephens Moose Valley 2015 Cab which was also great. Decanted an hour or so and it evolved in spectacular fashion. A mature Brunello that was in the process of entering its drinking window. Bold dark fruit with cocoa, cedar and hint of earth. Ripe …

Stunning, but still youthful. Nose of bilberries, morels, chestnuts, new leather, coffee grinds and morello cherries. Beautiful, silky red fruits on the palate, great tension, just starting to enter its drinking plateau. Sexy and very classy is a aposite, albeit cliched, description. Can’t wait to see this evolve. I expect it will score 96-98 in time.

Opened, waited 2 hours to pour into glass. Did not decant. Ready to rock and roll. Pale pink color. Starting to detect tawny edges. Nose is faint rose petals. Fully integrated, with very sleepy, but still technically present tannins. Muted jammy fruit, plenty of lively balsamic vinegary zing. Makes me think 2028 is when the 2016s will be hitting the tennis ball right in the center of the racquet. 12 years is just the right amount of age.

A truly lovely wine in a great place right now, I see the price has gone up significantly from where I bought it, which is unfortunate but if you can get this for $130 or less it's a good buy. Nice stuff from San Filippo

Really enjoyed this lovely beauty last night. It was fully resolved and a mature Brunello that is definitely in the early part of its drinking window, as it opened beautifully after 2 hours in the decanter. Dark berries, dark chocolate, a touch of toast, nutmeg. Lovely wine that is made to have with food.

One off ($40 from I’m not sure where) a few years ago. On the nose and palate, medium notes of black cherries, plums and red currants, herbal earthiness, smoke, mocha, amaro herbality and cedar. Medium garnet, light to medium bodied, light legs. Medium tannins, light to medium acidity, no heat. Good complexity, persistence and intensity. Like many of the ‘12s I’ve had in the past several months, this is a wonderfully balanced, fully integrated wine, delicious if not the most …

Already showing a lot of age. Bought from Spectrum Wine Auction. Maybe not stored optimally. Lots of bricking. Low acid, soft tannins, lots of prune / plum aroma and palette. If this bottle is representative, drink now, don't hold much longer.

Opened and let sit for about 4 hours. This still has a long way to go, but is drinking great right now.

Insane. Wow. Truly delicious. Color beginning to brown so the color is looking like a perfectly well-aging wine. Round, silky with mild tannins and after nine years there is still plenty of acid which tells me that this wine has a long road ahead.

Stylistically a bit modern for my taste, but none the less a very well made wine. Dark chocolate and cherries, with some notes of leather, a flutter of rose, and an undertone of smoke. The palate was slightly glossy but tons of power and persistence.

Opened for 2 hours from cellar temperature then decanted (minimal sediment) for another 90 minutes or so before drinking with some lamb meatballs and then some cheese and charcuterie. This is a really nice wine. The nose has dark red fruits but also with a slightly perfumed overtone (perhaps violets). The palate follows this with smooth mouth coating tannins, and light, nicely balanced, acidity. The balance changes a little with more air - fruits becoming a little more prominent and …

A medium bodied wine with very smooth, well integrated tannins and an excellent mouthfeel. Very enjoyable. Will try to hold my second bottle for another year or two.

Russk. Tasted at the wine spectator event. Held over a couple of weeks in the refrigerator. Eventually dumped. Way to Woody to enjoy.

Purchased 6 bottles. This is the first Ive opened. Decanted one hour-92 points. Macerated cherry, cast iron. Good grip. Nice length. Drank from decanter over four hours. Was best late. I’ll decant 3 hours ahead next time before drinking. Giving it 94 points at 3-4 hours air.

Thanksgiving with 9 Brunello's. Wow this is as good as the prior Brunello's. Slightly darker in color and dark berry flavors mixed in with some sage. Heavier than the Barbi 12' and certainly more tannin which indicates some longer ageable character to it.

Clean and inviting nose of red berry, pepper, and a little wood that came out more after some air. Very supple, almost creamy texture. Red cherry and plum flavors on a medium foundation. Tannin is not overpowering at all but present. Light to medium acidity. Medium finish. Decanted for about 3 hours but with hindsight was ok to drink right out of the bottle as well. Can't pick up the decant changing it much; maybe marginally. It's a good wine, …

Russk. Suckling great wines of Italy tasting at the Moore building. 90+ , not nearly as good as the Lucerne from the same year.
