Deep purple color with a bouquet and flavor that tastes more like red fruit than black (strawberries with hints of raspberries). Excellent balance with a seamless feel and a long caressing finish. Quite unusual blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Equal companion to Sine Qua Non's Papa (2003), another great wine and 100% Syrah.

Unusual blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (CS) and Syrah, not a combination that would be intuitive, but who would have guessed that CS and Sangiovese make such a good match. Despite the big grapes, this wine lacked depth and nuance, reminding me of oceans of bad Medoc and equal amounts of Rhone vin de table. Put them together and you might get this wine. Sampled 1/18/12. The heavy glass bottle, deep punt, extra thick wax capsule and art label all scream either "quality wine" or "marketing gimick". Unfortunately, this wine falls into the latter category. Medicinal red fruits - almost like red cherry cough syrup. Still slightly gritty and rough tannins with an alcohol/hot kick finish. Age not treating this wine well. Fruit hidden by typical K acid that shows up in any of his modestly aged wine. Drink K young.

Opend and poured 1 glass for bottle to breath 1.5 hours befor serving beef tenderloin. was was tart.opend second bottle and pourd imediatly it was better.

Wild berry, tart nose. Cracked white and green pepper with some earth notes. Like dry dirt notes. In the mouth the wine is fresh and lively, if not a bit acidic. You can certainly pick up the 14.5% alcohol. Spicy on the palate with a nice peppery finish. Very good bottle of wine, worth seeking out. Bigger wine that drinks better than most of it's counterparts in this price range.

Lots of bacon, briar, and black fruits. A great washington wine.

Really good! Dark, baked fruits with smoke and leather. The tannins were just right - creating a round, full structure in the mouth. The acidity was well balanced making this an excellent food wine to boot.

This bottle was in great shape tonight. Fruit forward nose, good berry notes. Not at all tannic. We had it with pork chops prepared with a mint julep demi and sugar snap peas. Very Nice complement to the meal.

Really nice cab/syrah blend. Juicy blueberry nose. Big and reasonably well balanced but somewhat simple. Great finish.

Wow, what a nose on this one...this has to be co-fermented with Viognier. Wonderful floral aromatics, with sweet cherry/berry, nose with a touch of black olive and earth as time went by. On the palate nice red fruit, some of the olive, lively acidity and a decent finish. This is a nice wine, new world with an old world sensibility, but maybe not worth the price tag.

Probably the most vegetal wine I've ever tried. I would bet most people blindfolded couldn't tell difference when smelling this or a bowl of vegetable soup. That said, it was still good, but I don't see the 96 point level. There's a lot of wine out there for less than $50 that can compare with this.

Drank this over about a two hour period. Not quite as good as I remember my first bottle. Brick red color and still possessed some of the earthiness, shrubs, spice, and glycerin of the first bottle but the components didn't seem to be in full effect. After drinking the 2005 Wells Vineyard a couple of months ago, I really needed to try one of these babies and boy was it a home run (not that any of my Mariner's can hit one). While wandering through my neighborhood wine shop I spied the new 2005 Vintage of "The Creator". I have tried the 2003 and have some in my cellar I thought I'd try this vintage. Wonderful wine...glad they put out another vintage. Will pick up a few more bottles to stash away.
