Pillow Rd. Vineyard Chardonnay

Working on drinking the remaining bottles in my cellar

I was a bit concerned upon opening the bottle and finding the cork had "leaked" partially up its length and the color was a deeper gold than I remembered from previous tastings. But the taste was good - though I'd say its time to drink my remaining bottles soon

Very enjoyable

Very good Chardonnay (and I rarely enjoy CA Chardonnays). The usual burst of fruit expected from a CA Chardonnay (tropical fruit, citrus, lemon curd), vanilla, and (thankfully!) good acidity. This makes for a more balanced wine. One that is even food friendly (a rarity among CA Chardonnays). This wine surprised me very positively. If I had more bottles, I would be most curious as to how it would age.

Golden, syrupy hue. Nose of citrus, lemon curd, almond and vanilla; palate dominated by citrus notes and oak. Good acidity. Somewhat woody finish, but generally pretty good.

Delicious Chardonnay. The wonderful acidity in this wine creates a chiselled mouth feel with distinct flavor layers of lemon custard, honey, vanilla, light oak and minerality that all all ride on a lengthy finish.
