Holloran, Pinot Noir Pavillon, Dundee Hills

Another nice bottle, and like most of the other bottles, more California than Oregonian in style. Slightly ripe, rich and lush with a medium body, velvety mouthfeel and nice round, fruity finish. Mostly deep red cherry fruits with a bit of earth and spice. Nice balance and very smooth. Not much grip, but also not flabby or flat. Nothing special, but really enjoyable, satisfying and easy to drink.

I have now had several bottles and all except the first one, have been consistent and good. Drank most recent one last night and did not take notes. Overall rather lush with deep, dark rich flavors of mostly dark cherry and spice. Flavors of earth and what I can best describe as "freshly cut wood" emerge from behind all the fruit. Medium body, velvety texture, good balance and a nice finish. 90-91

My first bottle from this winery and there was a lot to like as well as something not quite right. Deep dark fruits and spice on the nose - smells very rich. Tobacco aromas also emerge after a couple of hours. Lots of cherry and plum on the palate with good complexity, but also tastes just a bit tired and flat in the mid-palate. Decanted 2 hours. Darkly colored with a thin clear rim. Sweet and savory spices greet the nose with cinnamon, cloves and some bass notes of licorice and plum. The flavors are all about ripe red cherries and sweet spice. Rich, velvety texture is carried by vibrant acidity into a long, luscious finish. hard to believe that 8 years have passed since purchase. following the winemaker/proprietor's advice, it was time to give it a try. at the outset, there is a penetrating nose reminiscent of bison cooking over a hardwood fire. the bison eventually retreats to the pasture revealing intensity of fruit tha makes one think of cherries jubilee. very rich and mouth filling. lingering finish. will hold the remaining bottle one more year. need to go to the website to see what …

Some cherry scents appear on the nose... then wet dog ... then ... skunk. :( Dark candied cherries start things out on the palate, along with some nice level tannins, and then a distinct delivery of rotten fruit ruins the entire thing. I'm not going to score this formally out of hopes that I just got a bum bottle. I rated it 62 when I tasted it.

i thought this wine had a lot more potential than was suggested by the spectator review. also feel that it has substantial potential to age well. will try another one in two to three years.
