This is a very unusual wine that has some iron flavor on it. High acidity. We love discovering the off beat wines made by adventurous winemakers, and this definitely falls in this category. Tastes like wine we have drunk in tiny towns in Portugal with our lentils and sausage dinners in small family restaurants.

I have no idea what an Alvarelhão from its native Portugal is like, but this one from Alta Mesa is super fruity and weird and freaky and I love it. In-TENSE Cherry bubble gum and New Coke in the nose, passionfruit and guava in the mouth. Like freaking Hawaiian Punch with a teeny tiny amount of tannin; just enough to give it a light grip.
