Holdens : Raisins and prunes, molasses, subdued spices. It’s a real treat. Pours like thick engine oil. Lifted nose with a dense, sweet, balanced, clean palate.

Perfection. So rich and savory, with a gentle earthen spiciness. A faint celeriac note arose on the 3rd day but still a gem.

while sweeter and not as complex as their older vintages, still had a similar coffee/chocolate flavor profile and unique dessert wine flavor profile.

"Used to sell this in a restaurant I managed and it was fairly popular. Coffee, raisin, date and a long nutty finish. Goes perfect with a toffee pudding or just as a dessert on its own;)"

Following having tasted the 1973 Bodegas Toro Albala Don PX Cosecha Vieja and the 1987 Bodegas Toro Albala Montilla-Moriles Don PX Gran Reserva, I was glad to taste this one. I had been very fond of the complexity of the 1987, but a little disappointed by the 1973 which though fine, didn't have the same complexity. A bad (mini-)bottle? Not sure, but this 1968, I find more interesting. It seems less sweet, has aromas reminding me of an olorose with …

Incredibly sweet and rich with complex notes of honey, dried apricot, cold tea, molasses and raisins. The palate is super-intense, as the treacle-like nectar invades every crevice of the mouth. It doesn't feel heavy but a small glass is more than enough.

Upon opening nice, very subtle notes of mocha, cardamon, hint of clove. aromatically pleasing. finish of caramel and molasses. second glass initial flavors disappointed and entire experience morphed into caramel and molasses. quickly lost complexity. became rather syrupy. thanks to Nariman for bringing this. i wouldn't seek it out and despite the first glass being interesting it soon lost my interest. second glass: 88ish. look forward to trying the 46 in my cellar.

Just nothing left but sugar... cloaking the tongue... in all fairness, this was a very old bottle lingering around...

Simply delicious, lots of smoke, caramel, definite liquor quality, obvious fig and raisin. Long finish, to much wine on board to really score, but 93-94ish.

Very nice entry level PX. I would love to try some of the vintage wines from this producer, but this was a very nice showing. Golden raisin entry followed by a viscous mouthfeel and caramel dominating the palate. Went very well with our dessert of exquisite truffles from the little chocolate shop nearby. The texture of the ganache paired perfectly with the wine and made it all seem part of one whole. Very nice.

Mmmm. Paid 16.5 euros at a Barcelona wine shop. Not sure if I'd describe it as syrup or gravy (probably somewhere in the middle), but the Don PX was a dark brown, motor oil color that coated the glass. Strong prunes and raisins, as to be expected, mixed with dark brown sugar. I struggle even calling this wine, as it really strikes me as a fantastic liqueur. I believe this is the equivalent of the Grand Reserva, but not labeled …

Burnt amber, buttercup yellow rim; lovely nose, sweet and liquorous, raisins, apple treacle, floral topnotes, hint of muscat; really coats the palate, very sweet and concentrated, fresh enough if well chilled, flavours of nuts and raisins; slightly hot finish.
