Opaque, inky in the glass with a kiss of purple around the rim. Elegant and focused aromas cover the full spectrum with white flowers, ripe raspberry, leather and spicey cinnamon (Big Red?) underpinned with crushed river rock. Supple, sinewy and beautifully attenuated on palate with a perfect amalgam of raspberry and ripe, minerally tannins with crushed red rock notes that echo through the long, sustained finish. Again, perfect balance of ripe fruit, structure, elegance and power. Fantabulous!

I am very glad that I held on to this, it has matured very nicely. It is very smooth and has a very nice finish

This wine probably needs more time in the cellar or long decant and drink on day 2. Good nose with hardly a hint of oak, earthy, dark fruit at mid-palate with solid, almost bitter tannic finish. Suggest cellaring until 2014.

While this is a good value, it isn't a great value. Medium tannins, some fruit, but not very complex. So many wines, and so little time. Would not repurchase if I had an opportunity.

Decanted for >2 hours then accompanied lemon and rosemary roast chicken, roasted roots and peas with spinach and tarragon. Light color, a bit of cinnamon on the nose. Cherry fruit, pleasantly tart and peppery. A fine daily drinker, unlikely to improve.

Decanted 2 hrs, poured back into bottle and corked b/c changed evening plans, tried next day, deep cherry color, inviting nose with slight chocolate, medium mouthfeel, finished with tannins/oak/spice, not very balanced, rated 5 pts lower than 10 months ago, will probably drink the rest on a golf course.

Decanted 4 hrs, typical garnet color, cedar nose, medium/light mouthfeel, medium length finish with tannins all over tongue, not much fruit but solid structure, I rated higher than CT average but in-line with recent notes, I also rated 8 pts higher than nearly 1yr ago, either my palate or the wine is changing for the better, wife also liked this time, solid QPR at $18.

Decanted for four hours and had a glass of it after coming home from Chicken's book signing party, then had it on the second day with chicken and maitake mushrooms in a sherry cream sauce. Warm but subdued nose, low-key fruit with a somewhat lean, herbal followup. Tannins are nicely settled. This is a Bordeaux style cab without the big fruit and high extraction of the California style. I would guess this is a cooler climate vineyard. It will be …

Evolving nicely. Very prominent tannins. Overall a very classic Cali cab without being too sweet or over the top.

Better than most in the price point. Cedar, cassis, blueberries and spice. This was decanted 3 hours and really opened up. I would not pop and pour this wine. Medium finish and good concentration.

Damn good QPR! Aside from being a bit hot, and a bit tannic, deep dark garnet, and extracted intense cab sauv fruit, and nice finish. Would buy again. We've got another bottle, that we'll lay down a bit and see how it develops. Would buy again, if I could find more.

Dark red. Needs an hour in the glass/decanter for the black fruit to show through the copious oak and alcohol. Mouth filling fruit and spice and too much oak.

Decanted 2 hours. Dark red color. Nose and palate of cherries, oak, cedarish tar. Tannins are very present as is a nice acidity. Nice for the price but not very interesting.

Dark purple. Beautiful aromas of cherry, dust, violets and spice. On the palate spice, cherry, dust, violets and raspberries. Great acidity and soft/medium tannins. This is a true drink me now wine that has to be one of the best values I have ever tasted. A strong candiate for wine of the year at this price point. This is better than the Lot 200 at this stage of the game. Day 2 review: The nose still offers cherry but the …

Poured though Nuance, let sit in glass for an hour, dense plum color, slight cherry/chocolate nose, medium length finish, too much alcohol, not very dry, easier drinking than some bigger CH cabs like lots 136, 149, and 189 that need at least 2 hrs decanting, I still like lot 182 better but good QPR at $16. Day 2: Alcohol has mellowed, jammy mouthfeel, nice finish with some tannins, probably will be better in a year.

A decent every day drinker - not great, not bad, just somewhere in the middle. Relatively boring, with no complexity.

Let sit in open bottle for over an hour, needs more than two hours or decant to open up, inky color, lives up to its producer 'Chalky', too dry/tannin for me, medium length, wife puckered up, won't rebuy.

This wine is heavy on alcohol, spice and oak. The fruit is pretty simple (raspberry, maybe?). The wine has solid tannins and it might reveal some more fruit with age. This reminds me of Louis M. Martini Sonoma Cabernet, which is a compliment for an every day drinking wine. However, it is about the same price as the Martini (after available discounts), so it is not a particularly compelling value.

Decent color. Somewhat retrained nose of wood, raspberry and some plumb. Palate: Simple flavors of oak, raspberry, plumb and certainly spice and alcohol. Finish: Medium length of spice, wood, alcohol and various fruits. Not bad, but a pretty weak cab for the price and definitely not a re-buy. Day 2: Held up fairly well, but the alcohol was overwhelming. I poured the rest out. This is easily the worst CH wine I have had. 80pts.

14.5% ABV. Translucent dark garnet. Light oak and pencil nose. Medium bodied with black currant and a notion of graphite. Some background slightly muddy, cocoa flavors. Seems fairly priced but didn't wow me. I will revisit the leftovers tomorrow.

Made with 79% Cabernet Sauvignon from Knights Valley and 10% Chalk Hill Cabernet Sauvignon this wine also has a touch of Malbec and Carignane. Deep red in the glass. I found ripe dark cherry and grated dark chocolate aromas on the nose. The palate was medium bodied, smooth, elegant and delicious. I found more dark berry fruit, subtle oak and well integrated tannins. A great wine for $13!

Nose of cocoa powder, dried red cherry and a hint of half dried leather. Mouth fills with dusty tannins and cocoa, dark cherry, a touch of blackberry and a plum taste. Finishes pretty tannic, even after a couple hours decanted. Dusty chocolate, mixed cherries and dark berries. Pretty rich and with good length. Good stuf, strong structure...probably better with several hours (instead of finished under 2) or in a couple years. 87 or 88
