Domaine Dampt Frères Chablis 1er Cru Les Fourneaux

Pale gold. Nose is quite closed at first, palate ditto. Day two and it’s much improved, with salty white peach, sea spray and citrus. Less refined on the palate, even a touch coarse but held up by the taste of the ocean and the quality of the 2014 vintage. Not sure where this will go, but if opening now decant.

Lovely, classic Chablis. Took about an hour to open. Then, lovely floral nose. Medium body, light gold in color. Dry. Medium-low acidity. Round on the palate with mineral, citrus, and almond flavors. Went great with roasted chicken thighs and veggies. Wish we had bought more. Drink now-2024 maybe longer.

Not very good, but I didn't get the sour that other reviews mentioned. Can't remember what I paid but wouldn't buy again.

This wine was a major disappointment based on the professional reviews I was able to find. I picked it up at Costco and this has been the 2nd time recently that a highly rated (low to mid 90s) wine at about 20-25% off usual retail that I took a leap on was a major disappointment. nose: citric, mineral, funk peach nectar, whipped cream, medium acid

Tight on first opening--great nose, no palate. Replaced the cork and waited three days. At which point: surprisingly rich with nicely concentrated textbook Chablis flavors. Dry, some tannins. Should cellar well for another five years. A steal for $25 at Costco last week.

Really wanted to like this. Some say dry, I say sour! Sour green apples from start to finish. Some dry crispness on the palate provides relief from the unrelenting sour. Mouth puckering, to be charitable. Total whiff.

Pnp. Pours a golden straw yellow in the glass. Nose is somewhat subdued if not overwhelmed by a vanillin oaky presence. Palate manages to shine through the oak that mars the nose showing streaky lemon, bright chalky minerals, and some perfectly ripe orchard fruits. Midpalate has a nice fullness to it that is no doubt helped by the MLF. Racy acid and bright minerals drive this to a pleasurable medium finish.

Very dry, classic French style Chardonnay; strong minerality in both smell and taste; would be perfect with oysters or other seafood
