Sainsbury's Cava

Pale gold, nose of apple and some bread and a crisp, crunchy red apple palate with bright acidity and sufficient fruit to make it not too lean. On offer at less than a fiver, this is amazing value.

This was really quite nice. Tasted blind, one of us guessed it was champagne. A bit paler than light straw, lots of bubbles (but initially the coarse big ones before settling down), sweeter than most. Lacks the biscuity linger of champagne. Good with a curry - the sweetness and rougher texture in fact works better.
