Ripe blackcurrant and dark plum on the nose with hints of cedar and spice. The palate is full but balanced, showing concentrated fruit, firm yet integrated tannins, and a touch of oak. The finish is medium-long with lingering dark fruit and structure.

Dark and inky, with a slight amount of fine sediment at the finish while pouring into the decanter. Fruit, berry forward, yet not too strong in any one fruit. The tannins were present after an hour, decant, in a good way. I wish we had more than one bottle. This was bottle one of two bottles we drank with dinner…steak. Both were decanted and determined the Merryvale 2017 was the bigger wine over the 2019 Hall Craig’s CabSav. Both were …

Currant, dark cherry and bitter blackberry or pomegranate with notes of graphite tobacco dark chocolate and mint. Very big and not yet composed. The mouthfeel is velvet.

Surprisingly still alive. Notes of blueberry and other dark fruits. On the back there was a little bit of metal and also somehow strawberry snuck through. One and only bottle. Would buy again and drink within the year provided the opportunity.

This wine was balanced and harmonious. I tend to prefer old world wines, but I could not put this down. Not a ton of complexity but very smooth and flavorful. I opened this to pair with a steak. When the first sip was so smooth and balanced I wondered if it would lack the structure to stand up to steak. Just like a good Bordeaux, this wine seemed to get even better with the steak.

Over the hill? Yes. But not in the gutter. Yet. This one certainly will be by 2020. But it' snot a 2004-2009 drink date kind of wine either. If you have this one, you probably need to start drinking it. If you have multiple bottles, you definitely need to start drinking it. From the nose to the front of the palate, this is grandma's cedar chest on the nose. Front of this wine initially was a little rough, but settled …

A delicious wine. Deep and smooth. Light tannins for a cab.

Classic Cabernet Sauvignon that still has plenty of life. Probably has the backbone to age another 5-7 years. Paired w/ Moose Stew at Ozernaya River fishing camp in Kamchatka, Russia.

Tasting beautifully right now. A balanced style of Cabernet with some Merlot that softens the bite and gives a wonderful slightly smoky tone to the bright plum and blackcurrant nose. Soft tannins, medium acidity, very soft rounded mouthfeel and great fruit on the palate add up to a very enjoyable CA Cab. Presumably unfined as it is not crystal clear but that only seemed to add a little weight. Lovely finish although slightly short on the length. No reason to …

Nose of red fruits and tobacco. Definite signs of slight oxidation and bricking. The palate has foggy flavors of dried red fruits and plums with some cedar elements. Mouth watering acidity should allow this to pair nicely with various foods. Medium body, short to medium finish. Good value at current prices. Drink soon!

No formal notes as I had this with Christmas Eve dinner but this one is drinking very well right now. I'd say at peak. Drink 'em (and enjoy!) if you got 'em...

Damn! For cheap wine this aged really, really well. We paid a mere $20 for this, and it tasted like much more expensive stuff.

Nice example of mature California Cab - purchased from JJ Buckley a few months ago. Cork broke upon opening but wine was fine - some bricking around edges. On nose, dried cherry, dried cranberry & cedary overtones. On palate, red currants, blackberry & dried cherry. Medium body - very elegant - nice acidity & soft tannins leading to a medium length finiish - great food wine. This wine surprised me but it is at its peak so drink up! 90-91 …

Drinking very well. Medium to full bodied bright cab and merlot flavors come through nicely without any of the "darker" fruit flavors I've become accustomed to in Merryvale wines. Highly enjoyable.

Kept too long. Perfectly enjoyable to drink well melded medium tannins but had lost flavor and was one dimensional Should have drunk it a couple of years ago.
