Quinta do Sagrado Douro Grande Reserva VT

Bold, concentrated black fruits with raspberry, leather and liquorice. Wine had matured nicely with tertiary aromas and flavors. Velvet texture with a soft mouth feel. It tasted like a mature dry port.

Deep ruby fading to pale purple at the rim. Quite austere. Burnt wood, loads of wet leaves and soil, leather. Core of rich black plum, black currant and black cherry. Powerful, grainy tannins. Slightly astringent, certainly hot, medium acidity. Big wine. Flavours are somewhat linear and well-matched to the nose with black plum, burnt cedar and smoke meat. Some sweetness. The length is good but marred by the alcohol. Drink 2024+

Farge: Mørk med fiolett rand Duft: Eikefat med hint av mørke ved. Noe mørk frukt i bakgrunnen. Smak: Litt kantete tanniner. Eik, morgen ved og forbausende lite frukt; krekling. Dag2 Duft: Litt morgen ved og bjørnebær Smak: Mildere tanniner, noe krekling og bjørnebær. Litt kort i smaken?

Drank over five hours. Deep, dark, rich purple full bodied wine. Plums, some oak, hints of anise, some slate Tastes much like the nose. Dry, well balanced. LOTS of flavor, with a medium plus finish. BOLD wine, but everything is there. Excellent price point. Good Portuguese wines are highly underrated in my opinion. This was great with the 'lambsicles' and was perfect without a pairing. LFD cigar
