I have no experience with this Chateau, so a very pleasant surprise. Old wine yes, touch of leather complexity. Dry savoury Merlot, with freshness, vitality. With a bit of air (and a proper pour) it gains weight, it’s a very interesting wine; there’s a hint of something like fennel. The mellow richness is balanced by acidity making it still a good match for modern food.

This was drunk with friends tonight at a restaurant. It's a beautiful garnet colored wine. It's just into its drinking window at 20 years of age. It's a medium bodied wine with a mellowed consistency. The flavors are very typical of a Pomerol with the olive accent. Drink now or over the next 10 years.

Gorgeous nose but a little lacking on the palate. Maybe just needed a little more air time? Certainly felt mature and ready to drink but the palate just didnt live up to the nose.

A beautiful nose, great fruit and good concentration. A lovely wine that is fully ready to drink. One of my favorite Pomerol properties.

Fragrant nose of sweet-spicy red fruits, dark in colour, lacking a bit focus on the palate!

Prominent bouquet of leather, thyme, dry blackberries and earthy nuance. Surprisingly lack of the plummy notes in this Pomerol. Palate is quite structured and tight, with forward herbaceous notes and fresh fennel. The rest of the aromatic elements are hiding behind the medium to full-bodied palate which is still somewhat opaque. But it is fresh. Transitions from entry to finish is chalky for now. Still need more time in the bottle. Taste this in another 3 years.

Not as good as I tasted it last time, still very decent to drink, dark ruby in colour, exotic spicy mineral nose, rather dense and sweet on the palate, will continue to give pleasure for the coming years!

A lovely Pomerol that shows immediately. The finish is a little short. I had my doubts given the vintage and poor write ups from the experts about this particular chateau but if you can find it at the lowly current price I think a bargain. I prefer to many 2004s at 2x the price.

Cedar and iron, licorice and milk notes in the nose. Soft and smooth on the palate, very approachable but should also be able to age further and possibly gain complexity.

It's been quite sometime that I tried this one, years ago, well... I'm very happy to report you wine folks that this is drinking very beautifully at the moment! Black with ruby edges. Nose of black cherry, grilled meat, mushrooms, liquorice, earth, cassis. Very smooth medium-weight harmonious palate with alcohol and tannins completely absorbed. Tastes of black cherry, raspberry, strawberry, cassis, black liquorice, tobacco, spice, anise, sauerkraut. Not a hyper-concentrated bruiser, but on the fine side. Lots of depth, complexity and balance, with a lush structure. Peak drinking window right now.

Opened up almost immediately in the decanter. Drinking beautifully. Sweet dried cherries, plum, currant leaf, sweet spice, spice box. Fresh and juicy yet rich. Cool vintage merlot character. Love '04s so much right now. They are "drinkers" indeed.

The aromas are dense and lush but generous, almost as if the smells are to heavy to float out of the glass. There are dark stewed fruit smell and earth smells, tobacco and leather...and a dash of sulphur. Some mild sweetness on the front palate keeps the tannins and silty minerality from becoming excessively harsh, but this still begs for a food pairing at this stage.

Bottle number 3. This has radically improved on its 10th birthday. Dust, granite, eucalyptus, pepper, mushroom notes on the nose. Lots of mineral and pepper and liquorice mixed in with a somewhat lean fruit assembly of strawberry, raspberry, cherry liquor. Mushrooms and barnyard and leather also swirling around in the austere fruit. Very classic expression of Bordeaux, one of the better mid-price Right-Bank 2004s.

I do love this wine! Deep ruby in colour! Superb nose of sweet fruits! Very pure! The French oak is beautifully submerge into the wine! Very proper size of fruit! The finish is absolutely long! At least ten years to go! And beautifully made! Hats off to the wine maker!

more vegetal and barnyard funk than past bottles...while a bit more interesting, the cork was ~50% saturated which is more than prior bottles so this bottle may have been a bit oxidized

garnet color; dusty, stony, mint and red fruit aromas; still tight with mineral/pepper clouding somewhat lean red fruits; dusty/smoky tannins leave one feeling this wine is a bit austere but somewhat of a gem for the discerning palate, particularly for a $45 10-yr old pomerol needs 1+ hour decant
