Gustave Lorentz Pinot Gris Kanzlerberg

Very typical dry Alsace PG, warm, round with spice and pineapple can. I think it’s nice as a contemplative slow drink but not high enough acidity to really make it shine for me.

At its peak and showing beautifully. Bruised red apples, elderflower, marzipan, and a subtle nuttiness that develops with air. Still juicy, with good body and length (the latter could be a bit longer though if you’re being picky). Elegant overall. Hints of pineapple linger in the background. Becomes more expressive after about 30 minutes. Very nice.

Fabulous sample of the grape. Golden throughout. Honeysuckle and honey, seems slightly botrytis-y? Dried fruits- those tiny fragrant lemons. Green apple, pears Some salinity. White pepper? Unctuous and silky mouthfeel, Med-high acid High alcohol with residual sugar leads to a sweetness of sorts An elegant and well made wine of which I'd buy more to pair with various dishes, and seems to be longer lasting in the cellar than I expected.
