Domaine Richaud, Cairanne

Maturing, certainly -and comes across as very light. The vintage speaks. Nice local feel, sweet, almost a Burgundian touch with lots of red berries. #EasterLunchChezMoi

Juicy, elegant, fresh - very much like the vintage. While this is still a very young wine with loads of primary fruit, it is not - probably - meant for keeping many years, though it will last, I dont think it will improve

I'm a fan of Marcel Richaud's wine and this one doesn't disappoint. Medium + bodied at most but quite dense with fruit infused with sweet dark cherry, some garrigue, underlying firmness and backbone, gentle acidity sufficient for balance and hints of liquorice and kirsch on the finish. As always with Richaud, there is elegance with some power. Very good.

Tight, fresh, mature fruit galore, lots of garrigue, wine with real character. very juicy style. Loved it, as did H. #RuthsBrasseri

Beautiful and characterful Cairanne, made of 48% Grenache, 32% Mourvèdre, 16% Carignan and 4% Syrah, fermented on concrete and aged on oak. Deep ruby coloured. Light aromas of cherry, blackberry, bit jammy even, and sauerkraut (thanks Robin!). Full bodied palate with medium acidity, medium tannins and flavours of thick and ripe fruit, dark cherry, blackberry, plum, vanilla, milk chocolate, laurel, thyme. In the bouquet a beautiful bouquet with ripe dark berries and cherries. On the palate juicy and ripe dark and red berries, good acidity and slightly sticky tannin.

Tasted vis-a-vis the Mont-Olivet CDR 2014,this is a different class alltogether; quite dense, elegant, very much in balance. Still young, tannins evident, but the very clean fruit conqours all. Great, true Rhône-wine...
