Garnet with tawny rims, high intensity. Pronounced nose, mature and classic. Oak, leather. Dark fruit, a touch of mint. Sweet spices. Complexity. In mouth dry, medium(+) acidity, medium(+) well grinded tannins, medium(+) body. 13%. Balance. Flavours as nose with pronounced oak and leather. Very good length. Mature with clear address. A night in the fridge, and not much happens. Still handsome.

Good level and solid cork. No oxidation or faults however it smelt and tasted very mushroomy in a bad way. So much so I didn’t want to swallow it. Not drunk.

Friendly right away, nice aromas, resolved tannins, fruit. I see wine on an arc, ascending and descending slowly. This is on descent and is pleasant. I wish I had drank some of my bottles the past few years, but still enjoyable now. Going to drink up soon though.

At the moment one-dimensional wine, which is currently quite uninteresting. On the nose: Vanilla, red berries with a hint of choclate. On the palate: Nice balance, red berries, vanilla. Medium finish

Still tannins and long taste. Could have been in the cellar for another year or so.

Not much to add from previous note. Classic Médoc. Plenty of life left

By the glass. Wood for the train of the Marx brothers. Evidently this translates into creaminess and astringency in the mouth and in hard roasted aromas. I seriously doubt that this ship reaches a safe harbour. Por copas. Madera para el tren de los hermanos Marx. Evidentemente esto se traduce en cremosidad y astringencia en boca y en duros aromas torrefactos. Dudo seriamente que este barco llegue a buen puerto.

Best on Day 1. Quite savoury. Less cigar-box than expected. Decent solid 90 points.

Der Wein scheint mir jetzt auf dem Höhepunkt, mit cremiger Beerigkeit, gut eingebundenem Tanin, etwas frischer Säure, aber im mittleren Bereich etwas dünn. Da fehlt etwas Komplexität. Mittellanger Abgang. Unkompliziert und durchaus mit Vergnügen getrunken.

Pnp. Fruit initially shows sweetness that wasn't to my taste. Settled down a little with time but belied both age and province. made for a pleasant easy drinking wine. I much preferred the 2004 vintage

The nose was subdued on Day 1 and the wine was at it's best on Day 2 or 3. Don't be afraid to give this a long decant. Restrained luxury with a soothing smooth texture and creamy berry flavours. 90-91 points.

Medium bodied, stern, crisp, classic styled wine with crunchy, red fruits, dusty tannins and an austere finish.

PWS 2016-01: 5 reds (@ My place) : Beautiful dark forest fruits in the bouquet. On the palate dark and red berries, oak, chocolate, a firm amount of good acidity and fairly soft tannin. This wine is in its young maturity stage now. No problem cellaring this for a few more years.

This was really nice after 24 hours in the decanter. The wine looked better in the glass and the flavours had turned autumnal and haunting. Keep some for Day 2 for full appreciation of this wine.

Still great value at £12.50. Fresh and rich nose. Tannins are fully integrated - it's smooth and medium long. Well balanced with a sense of sweetness in the first wave of flavour. Red and black fruits, some savoury and mineral tones.

3 hour decant. Creamy berry nose. The really pleasant delightfully soft texture of the wine earns the 90 points. The second-tier vintage shows in the not quite symmetrical palate and the slightly vague finish. This needs food. I didn't sense so much depth in this classified growth but it is a memorable and enjoyable wine due to the soft creamy texture.

I think this is tremedous QPR. It's a baby cru classé in many ways. Fruit and 'terroir' on the nose, good balanced mid-palate with planty of fruit, mostly resolved tannins and some interesting mineral and earthy secondary notes. It doesn't have the length but then this lot was £12 in the Co-Op and it drinks more like a £30 claret. Fully mature.

It took quite a while for this to open up, so decanting is highly recommended as is waiting. First night I had half a glass, and it was tight and not so pleasant. Second, half the bottle, and it was remarkably better, opening more, shedding some harsh tannin and tertiary notes. Third, balance of the bottle, and it was still strong, more open, still full of verve and tannin even, but much more pleasant fruit. It can be enjoyed now, …

From .375. Pretty harsh tannins, not sure this will ever become charming. Not my style of Belgrave but I do admit it has some energy.

Plenty of redcurrants, mint and gamey flavours. Good depth of fruit but a little short and one dimensional overall. Should improve over the next 2-3 years.

Christie's Pre-Sale Tasting (Amsterdam) : Mature appearance; fragrant, light, crisp Cabernet, slightly medicinal; light, crisp, some souplesse; nice wine, drink now.
