We noted that this producer has been quite consistent from the outset. The wines are clean and transparent, with great verve. I was floored by a 2020 CM Fariendes, and none (except for repeats of that bottle!) have quite had that energy. The 2021 CM village show minimal oak and a faint hint of reduction. It has lithe vanilla and a hint of mint. I do think the knock on 2021’s being a little dilute is fair. I coravined a …

Improved over the 3 hours it was open. Nothing too special.

This one need aeration and it have the structure to last for a long time. I believe it’s more of the leaner side and reductive style. Where there more display of primary fruits character and clean and lean style. High acidity.

Citrus, a little reductive gunpowder in the background. Medium+ bodied with nice density cut through with medium acidity. Long saline and buttery finish. Very nice, but could do with a bit more acidity for my tastes.

This was dynamite. It has a decent amount of reduction on opening but after an hour-and-a-half it blossomed. Still had some reduction but was energetic and bright and so great to drink.

Pretty reduction, citrus on the nose. Surprising weight on the palate for the vintage. Well made wine.

Opened with fresh notes of citrus, white flowers. Well balanced with mineral and buttery richness. Well made modern village wine. Like it a lot.

Benoit Moreau's Chassagne-Montrachet 2021 is an impressive wine, born on a challenging vintage. Bursting from the glass with reduction, lemon oil, butter and white flowers, the nose is complex and round. The palate is amazing, with incredible depth and length for a village wine. It is even hard to understand how a village wine can possess such depth. To me, Benoit Moreau's is the best white village wine in Burgundy aside from Coche-Dury, Bernard-Bonin and Domaine D'Auvenay - all playing …

Small tasting glass at restaurant Vineum. No detailed notes. Very linear, full of minerality

First time trying this producer. Made in the trendy style - reductive nose with ripe citrus fruit, some greenness from the vintage. High dry extract and slightly obtrusive oak use made for a compact and weighty wine. Classy winemaking but not sure if this is worth anywhere near the market price.

Fresh and cool. Green apple, white pear, with enough ripeness for balance. Quite true to Chassange and the vintage, classy wine

Buttery and pear. Still needs a few years as the sharp alcohol taste still lingers

100% biodynamically farmed Chardonnay from eight different parcels around Chassagne-Montrachet. Fermented spontaneously, aged for 18 months in predominantly old oak barrels. 13% alcohol. Bottle #2497. Pale, youthful whitish-green color with faint lemon-yellow highlights. The nose feels surprisingly reticent and understated with light aromas of sweet tropical fruits, some creamy oak spice, light reductive notes of gunpowder smoke and a faint primary hint of fruit drops. The wine feels youthful, clean and quite broad yet still firm with a medium-to-moderately full …

Classy, but slightly reticent nose. Nice and pure aromas of citrus and green apple. Mineral and very pure - quite 2021 in its expression. Good length. Not entirely sure how this will develop. The fruit is rather tight on the palate. Feels like the wine has not yet gotten in place, but will probably turn out well. Give 2+ years - at least?

Domaine Bernard Moreau Cellar Visit and Tasting (Chassagne-Montrachet) : Barrel tasting. I was not expecting to like this wine so much, given it is the first vintage since replanting. And while the weight is not up to previous vintage standards, this wine shows such wonderful charm, elegance and spice in multi-faceted ways. 91-92+ point potential, 2025 forward.
