I did not decant it thinking that for a 14 years old wine it was not necessary. That was a mistake. The last glass was the best one.

Sommairement, Nez typé, framboise, sous-bois Bouche généreuse, texture soyeuse, malgré l'âge, le fruit est à l'avant, note d'élevage subtil mais riche, beurre noisette et champignons. Bon ambassadeur de l'appelation

Dark bricky translucent ruby. Nose of dark berry, iodine, steel filings, smoky violets. Tensile, powerful layers of iron-inflected, primary raspberry, black cherry, and anise on the structured palate. Brisk acidity and firm, young tannin. Longer finish of brash red berry, iron granules, and fine soil. Excellent wine, still integrating and destined for good things.

Popped and slow ox'd for an hour. Pale ruby color. Gorgeous nose of dried cherry, floral notes, fresh earth, sandalwood, a bit of balsamic, cedar. Reminded me a bit of an aged Nebbiolo on the nose. Similar flavors on the palate with a mix of fresh and dried red fruits with earth and spice. Silky smooth on the palate. Very fine tannins. Medium+ acid. Long finish. Really fantastic bottle of wine.

Great range of fruit. Red fruit with nice depth and mouth-filling flavors.. Good length and structure. Very tasty now but at least a good five years to go yet. Two-hour decant was enough, but not going downhill.

Volnay baffles me sometimes. This was quite reserved for a long time. As it opened up it packed on bulk and showed unusual earthy characters as well as darker fruit that reminds me of red Meursault.

Tasted over 2 hrs -nearly semi-translucent brilliant dark red mild clearing -stony dark cherry cream faint reduction -med/med- acidity, med weight sharp slightly edgy almost green note provides a counterpoint to the ripe black cherry pinot fruit, fine med/med- tannins leave a mildly bitter note on the moderately long finish -nice aromatics, fuller and less prominent acidity than most '11s

From memory. A bit hard, with lots of acid and a fair amount of fine tannin. Leaner and more tart than I remember the previous bottle being. It followed some CA pinot, so I am sure that had something to do with it.

Opened last night for a dinner party, simply left under cork on the counter. Some funk in the aromatic, with a creamier texture and red hard cherry candy. Some mushroom and herbal tang shows up in the finish, that has good length and structure. Like the Anthill Farms Comptche pinot I tasted tonight, this Rossignol makes me think.

tasted blind. transparent light ruby. Nose red fruited. Palate red cherries with pronounced acidity, delicate, light bodied with some tannins on finish. I guessed sangiovese, but the reveal made sense. J's favorite of the night. 92-93 pts

Bel équilibre avec une pointe d'acidité en finale. Il a sans nul doute le caractère d'un premier cru. Très bon sans être fabuleux. Prêt a boire.

Robe couleur bourgogne avec une légère évolution. Vin frais sur les petits fruits, fruit rouge, cerise, rhubarbe et boisé. On retrouve les mêmes aromes au nez qu’en bouche. Assez corps et long en bouche.

Recent notes from EWS3 and JROBS7777 had me worried, but this showed well. Slight rubber and funk on the nose initially that recedes with a little time. Red red fruited with savory accents and quite a bit of acidity. Ann and Eric loved it. I really need to be exploring and drinking more Burgundy.

Really elegant. Floral and earthy aromas. Ripe -but not overly sweet - red fruit with notes of earth, mineral, flowers. Terrific structure and balance. I thought this was nicely integrated but I also think it will benefit from a few more years of cellar time. I had this with a cream-based cod dish and it was outstanding. It would be a winner also with roast chicken. But this is more on the delicate side and not a wine to drink …

very similar to the last note. tons of acid on this gives it bite, but is a bit harsh without food. notes of sour red cherry, cranberry, light flowers, and sarsaparilla / root beer. some forest floor and stemminess. a bit thin and light.

Forest floor, flowers, sarsparilla spice, crushed stone. Nice nose. Palate dominated by acidity right now with tart fruit. A bit surprising when compared to notes from a few years back. Perhaps this is just in an awkward spot and will settle down.

Tons of funk on the nose when opened but dissipated over time. Savory flavors combine with the fruit for a complex wine. Great stuff.

Nose bursting with fruit. Floral, red fruit and earth. Dense concentration but light. Terrific fruit core. Juicy lip smacking acidity. Typical Rossignol, which is to say, just fantastic.

Decanted for an hour. Deep garnet crystal. Nose was espresso, chocolate, nutmeg, and vanilla. Taste was really well balanced between bright fruit, moderate tannins, and earthy/coffee notes. Really nice to drink, and some interesting character.

Fine Vines Fall 2014 Portfolio Tasting : Tasting, brief note. Red cherry and strawberry with moderate spice and lots of energy. Good power but seemingly in balance and drinkable today. Very good value wine.

MASTER BORGOGNA AIS; 10/15/2013-6/28/2014 (HOTEL WESTIN PALACE MILANO) : 15% legno nuovo. 100% diraspato. Ampio respiro, rarefatto, maturo e colorato. Aloe e fiori blu.

Wanted to check on this after hearing reports of green meanies in the 2011's. Had a glass the first night and it was awkward and lacking promise, not showing much fruit. 2nd night had improved out of sight, lush fruit, balanced acidity, long and smooth finish. Not showing any signs of green. Looking fwd to more of these but not for many years.

Burgundy tasting with friends (Our house, Kennett square, PA) : More structured and savory than the Chamirey, great acid, ripe fruit. More of what I was expecting from the reds. Some spices, and more earthy after it was open for a while. Slight rubber, fine tannins. Enjoyed this.

This is one of those wine where palate doesn't match aromas that come from the glass. This wine gives off wonderful red berry fruit aromas with a subtle hint of earth and other flavors I can't describe. Structured, balanced but my best guess that this wine is holding back a bit. My first N.Rossignol and I am very curious to try the rest of his line up. I like the man's style!

Nicolas Rossignol's 2011s (Bistro 7 (7 N. 3rd St., Philadelphia)) : This exudes class. Perfumed nose, clean focused razor sharp acidity. Austere. Elegant. Terrific fruit and a touch of sweet spice. Elegant from start to finish. Excellent.
