I was quite astonished at how well the fruit held up on this wine, typically SLH wines tend to be fairly short-lived, but I think Lucia, Morgan, and Pisoni are the exception of that rule. This is just a beautifully crafted wine, high quality fruit, gorgeous berries, cherry, a little bit of cola. Just a hint of some funky earthy flavors. Gorgeous, effusive nose which was quite floral and perfumed. Beautiful mouth feel, and a great finish. This is a …

Subtle cherry pie nose. Similar palate. Low acidity. Some heat on the finish. Pleasant to drink but not particularly complex — nor do I think holding onto it is going to yield much improvement. A good, simple table wine.

Hitting all of the high notes, great balance, terrific depth, benefited from giving it ample time to open up. Really nice Pinot!

A clear reddish maturing color; some yellowing on the rim. Cherry, some raspberry, cinnamon, tobacco, herbs and spices. Elegant on the nose and in the mouth. Rich and intense fruit. Good balance. A long, long subdued finish. The wine seems matue now and there is no reason to hold it much longer. I'll consume the remaining bottle within the year.

Great Pinot. Not overly concentrated like other pinots from same vineyard and alcohol content is reasonable and not to heavy. Still mildly tannic and I think the fruit will improve over the next couple years

Such a lovely pinot; this is the elegance and balance that I love in well-integrated pinot noir. The fruit is lean but builds with black cherry and plum but just a little bramble in the late body. I find this wine to have nuanced garrique and underbrush that hints at nose but builds on the palette and lingers through the finish for twenty seconds. Just delicious. Had this with kangaroo loin Med rare and some cherry compote. Excellent.

Decanted for 4 hours prior to tasting. Front palate promises lush texture with cherry / strawberry fruit, but the back palate gives rise to excessive acidity creating more rhubarb and sour cherry with additional tea flavors. Rather enjoyable until the swallow.

Sipping at Sierra Mat at Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur, California. Earthy on the nose with strawberry on the palate. Not our favourite style of Pinot Noir, but exceedingly well-made.

A complex notes. Very deep and, rare, but, ethereal. A very deep taste on the palate. Rose peddles, dusty earth, dry berries and an exceptional silken finish. One of the best pinot noirs I have had. This is an exceptional bottle with room for years of growth.

Pop and pour and followed over two hours. Tasted without food (unless you count rice crackers as food). Good purple color. Nice nose of crushed red berries and spice. Shows a little Pinot funk at first. This is a richer wine than I expected given the vintage. Nice combination of ripe red fruits with a crisp acidity, wound with raspberry canes. There is enough of a woodsy element to balance the richness of the fruit. Recorked and stuck in the …

This was better than expected, despite the long history of great results. I had read 2011 had issues, but this wine was gorgeous. Black cherry, raspberry, and sassafras. Found this to be pretty intense, not medium weight at all. Still with tannins that need some time to soften.

Tasted at a gathering of friends. Six bottles of California Pinot placed in brown bags and labelled with names of some of the favorite movies. The favorite movies named (not mine, mind you),were Twister, Risky Business, Seven, The Usual Suspects, Moonstruck, and Princess Bride. The Lucia Pinot - Gary's Vineyard was Twister. Notes are from the blind tasting: Good combination of fruit and funk on the nose. Dark in color. Good mix of dark fruits and some earthy notes that …

Typical dark-fruited Garys' nose. Then elegant and brambly, bringing to mind blackberries and crushed volcanic rock. Welterweight. It's a good wine but it's also clear this vintage is not my preferred style.

Dark red color. Nose of toasted oak, strawberries, a bit of reduction and slight celery note. Strawberries, dark cherries, some smoke, buttressed by oak spice on the mid-palate. Not much detectable acid, yet enough to keep if from feeling flabby. Smooth mouth feel with fine grained tannin completing the oak bookend, and just a touch of heat. Consumed over seven hours, not decanted, this was definitely better on initial pop and had lost a significant amount of fruit toward the …

Decanted for an hour, utilizing a funnel in a very gentle way. A garnet and crimson pool of colour. Blackberry pie, flint, adobe brick, salt, tart cherry and vanilla. A centered mid-palate of pure cotton, with well-strewn tannins. Very Burgundian in structure and cellar potential; judicious layers that enhance the balanced finish. You can't wait for the next savory sip, so much so that it is too easy to enjoy, even though there's so much structure. This is as good …

PnP. Seemed less violet than last year's. I went up a point on this as all the things I liked about it last year seemed more balanced and more expressive. The meaty earth, pine forest floor and Asian spice notes were again great. The more toned down fruit on the palate this time let the acid accent the balance to a better effect. Still this is a pretty big cali pinot, but there's a certain deftness now coming from what …
