Great wine a super value for money shiraz from south 🇿🇦 Full Bodie shiraz with nice aromas of red and black fruits and meaty notes on the palet. Paired well with smoke beef short ribs

Michi's South African tasting: Shiraz - Stellenbosch region. 20 year old vines. Hot year and smaller berries give concentration. No new wood. Whole berry ferments. 14.4 vol. TA 5.0 g/L pH3.7 Chocolate, fruity, plums, and a bit balsamic, vanilla, very adstringent. Needs some time. Good!

Elegant, gentle ripe fruit, very well dosed wood, lovely tannins, balanced aftertaste, but the alcohol level (14%) suggests serving a bit chilled.

Far better then the last bootle that was over the top. The pepper tones were almost gone and secondary Tones appears. Still with medium tannines. Suddenly the QPR seems good. I stoppad bytingar this wine some years Ago but maybe I Should start again.

Aromas of black pepper, bacon fat, and creamy raspberry. Not very exciting on the palate. Somewhat thin flavors of cherry and a little oak. ($8)

A tie for best bottle of the evening. Lot's of pepper and spice. This was a great bottle and a great find on our trip to S. Africa. Fantastic QPR, except for the travel expense to S. Africa :-)

Good rhone-style red that was a nice break from the over-the-top fruit bombs of CA and Australia. Had a clean, balanced feel with fruit, tannin and some faint barnyard notes. Did not find the pepper oppressive as others have noted.

Honeymoon in South Africa; 12/16/2008-12/23/2008 (Londolozi, Cape Town, Constantia, Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschoek - South Africa) : There was 5% Mourvedre in this. Very nice. Clean, understated nose, with savoury meat alongside perfumed blueberries. Palate was similarly clean and restrained. with more subtle fruit riding on fine grained but firm tannins and a touch of pepper. Some cocoa and bittersweet chocolate emerged at the medium-lengthed finish. A serious, Rhone-styled wine.

Paired with Masala Chai dark chocolate. Rounded nose of raspberry, cherry and eucalyptus. Very spicy, with the eucalyptus and a bit of leather and smoke. After tasting the chocolate, the spice shifts to gingerbread that Faith said tasted like Christmas. There’s noticeable nutmeg after the chocolate as well. Kevin Arnold, definitely the winemaker and not the Wonder Years.
