Tasted blind in VV. Rather deep and almost fully opaque with concentrated plummy purplish-red color. Quite developed, characterful and attractive nose with aromas of wizened plums, some vanilla overtones, a little bit of nice animal funk, hints of leather and horse stables and a slightest whiff of sweet VA. Nice! The wine feels obviously ripe and full-bodied, yet still dry and focused with complex flavors of pruney dark fruit, some vanilla, a little bit of leather, a hint of juicy …

100pc Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) from sandstone and clay soils. Fermentation is in large concrete tanks followed by ageing in French oak for 16months. Bright ruby red robe. Slightly simple on the nose at first before it opens up showing bright red fruit, fresh yeast, sweet plum, and gentle spice. A touch of violet perfume as well. Very primary. Medium long, fleshy palate dominated by red fruits with the tannin actually quite structured on reflection but very gentle on first …

Cork. 15% abv. 16mths maturation. Bright cherry red. Youthful. Lifted nose of red cherry, sweet macerated berries, and cherry liqueur. Deeply fruited. Great length and complexity. Perhaps a bit rich to age? But more likely will look better in 5yrs and drink well over 10.

Slightly too much oak for this stage, overpowering. Nice ripe fruit, a touch of leather and warm spice - star anise. Better with time in the decanter, maybe time will allow the over oak to settle.
