Good port. In a good place at the moment. Colour deep, nose sweeet, well balanced and long taste

very pale colour, almost rose! SPicy nose, cinnamon, menthol, tobacco, cherry In contrast to the colour, the palate is rich and fruity, cherry, ripe and sweet with subtle aromatic spicy and rose petal notes. A little spirity at the end but apart from that pretty much perfect. Probably at its peak but this still has years left in it. 18/20

From magnum. An hour after decanting. Just beginning to mature. Black fruit still, sweet. Currant, cassis, blackberry initially. Hint of black cherry. Some dry earthiness, black pepper. Long finish, tannins still quite present but resolving. Finish of licorice, bay leaf, herbs, spice, and blackberry liqueur. Open next in 2033.

Solidly in its drinking window, everything fully Integrated. Wonderful, if lacking the nuance of really top top port.

Opened and decanted. Rinsed the bottle and then poured back in. Let it sit uncorked in the cellar for about 6 hours. Drank over the next two nights. Really enjoyable. Everything integrated but missing the nth degree of great port. May improvement with more bottle age. Very good.

An overall gorgeous wine, especially delicious on a cold autumn evening. Wonderful and candied on the nose - full and rich and lovely on the palate. Beautiful.

Post-Thanksgiving dinner at the Ross's. Most tawnys and ports are too sweet for my palate these days; luckily this one fell to the lower end of the scale. While I had only one small glass, I could tell it needed a lot more time to develop. (In May 2014, Tanzer gave this a 93... befuddling that early.)

2025-10 KoB #226 Corton at Estelle : Light pink with a hint of tawny colour. Strawberry fruit, hint of menthol. Balanced. Tangy. Ethereal. The spirit is balanced but sometimes noticeable. Turkish delight and cardamon. Lots of rose water. 96

I agree with the previous note that this is in a really great place. What I would add is that it did much, much better after 60-90 minutes in the decanter. I always decant older port given the amount of sediment, but in this case I would also be sure to plan the extra 1-2 hours which I don't always find as useful for older port.

There is going to be some bottle variation as the corks start to fail. Some signs of seepage affecting the freshness of this bottle, as it showed clearly on the decline. Still enjoyable, but not as good as previous bottle.

From a .375. Stewed tomatoes, chocolate, mint, ripe black cherries, candied orange, cloves, black licorice and lemon juice on the nose. High intensity of aromas, and doesn't smell like it's going to be all that sweet. You can smell the alcohol too, of course. The palate starts subtle, then roars at a high intensity with flavors of preserved strawberries, preserved raspberries, preserved black cherries, tobacco, chocolate and hazelnuts. Beautiful finish, which lasts about 45 seconds. Full bodied with medium - …

My goodness, 13 years since I last tasted this wine. In some ways, it's barely changed - still a young port, with a gutsy yet charming black fruit profile and very slight floral accents. A tad spirity in the mouth, but by the point in the evening that the port is passed, one tends not to be so critical.

Cork collapsed even with my Durand, but the seal was good and the wine underneath...a very light tawny colour, notes of figgy spice and a hint of tea on the nose, sweet but delicate in the mouth, so much going on, and a very long finish - this can't improve from here but this bottle was still singing! (Edit: on the second night, there was more alcoholic heat on the finish and it felt a little disjointed, perhaps only 92, …

Thrilled to share this wine with a friend for whom this is a birthyear wine. Fresh and fragrant nose on opening. Double decanted and bottle rinsed with distilled water. Back into the open bottle for another few hours. Very light color. Cherry lozenge, satin mouthfeel, delicious spicy cinnamon on the long finish and a bit of anise. Touch of leather in there too. A more vinous Port, as Warres often shows. Fully ready now, but has good tannin and acid …

A beautiful bottle. Pure of red fruit. Ethereal and perfumed, drawing you in with a scented floral spirit and brown spices. So lacy in the mouth. Rich and heady without an ounce of extra fat. Licorice notes linger.

Outstanding vintage port. Deep ruby in the glass with layers of complexity, from primary fruit to tertiary notes. The alcohol is in balance with the acidity and the finish is long. The wine still has the capacity to age and develop further for 10-15 years due to its structural elements.

Managed to get the cork out in one piece and was soaked through. Colour is rose and very lightly tawny. Pure intense tart succulent tangy rosewater palate. Amazing! What a wine. So perfectly balanced and the spirit is fully integrated. 97. Plus 1 week. Has subsided a little but still very nice. Plus 2 weeks. Subsided a bit. Cardamom and perhaps some nutty characters but still had the sweet rose water. 95.

Cognac color with classic nutty overtones and a long lingering finish. This port, from the year of my recent marriage, is amazing and I wonder how does it still seem so fresh. Life is certainly good. I had it with buttered sourdough bread and rose geranium jelly.

Amazing to see how much colour had dimmed in a year since I opened the last bottle (assuming not bottle variation - but sourcing and cellaring identical). Still a delicious, mellow, nutty expression, but feel its best is now behind it. My last bottle, so fairly well judged!

JD’s Birthday Celebration (George Trois) : Ruby core with a touch of brown showing at the meniscus. Notes of cherry, white currants, fig and brandied cherries. Early maturity… this VP is quite sweet, even more so than Grahams. Very dark, still in its fruity stage but integrated and supple, with a nose centered on slightly minty crème de cassis and a hint of varnish that creeps in at then end…. Meanwhile the palate showcases the sweetness of the ripe fruit and the slightly creamy character A VP can acquire when fermentation is blocked at a very early stage. Anne would give this 96. I myself feel …

Opened decanted through a filter 3.5 hours prior to serving. Dark fruit on the nose leading to a palate of plums, cherries, currants, figs and hints of chocolate which led to a long finish. Really good at 30 years of age and it has plenty of years to go.

A great showing for this Port last night. The cork came out in a couple of pieces but it had done its job. Excellent ruby hue showing very minimal browning. Bright aromatics of cherry, later joined by figs and baking spices. The alcohol is clearly present but not overwhelming. Excellent complexity and length.

Lots of fig and pickled walnut initially on the nose, red and blackbrerry and cherry is slightly dried out, smidge of rancio and Autumn fruits with a little forest floor. On the palate the aroma implied flavours are enriched by Demerara sugar. Surprisingly nimble and light. Rather splendid.

Upon opening, it smelled like an old wood chest with moth balls. My initial impression was tangy-sweet and herbaceous, like cough syrup. A few days later out of the fridge, dark red fruits and earth scents emerge. The palate became more subtle, with a rich and luxurious texture, almost syrupy, with dark fruit, chocolate covered raisins, toasted toffee, and spice. Giving the bottle time to breathe allowed the wine to develop better overall balance, and greater complexity. Alcohol heat also …

Solid cork with medium sediment (needs filtering). The nose is subtitle slightly sweet and acidic with berries and light floral. The hard-palate is a wash with a wonderful taste of Bing cherry, plum, dark chocolate and caramel. The soft-palate brings out a slight acidity with black currant, Bing cherries and the slight hint of tobacco. The tip of the tongue starts with dark chocolate, vanilla, and cherries. The middle transitions into and raisin and chocolate flavor. The cheeks taste chocolate …

After midnight on NYE. Personally, in memoriam of Port over Todd, who always brought VP to this event. Decanted in afternoon, re-bottled early evening, re-decanted at event for another 2-3 hours, drunk after midnight. Light color with waves of sweet baking spice, dark fruits. Sweet tannins. Clear ruby red color. No browning. The first taste is a flash of sweet blueberry and cotton candy. The flavor transitions to cherry garcia with a splash of caramel on top. There is a phase of the taste, where a hot acidic alcohol burn is felt in the middle of the pallet, not too intense, but is present. The flavor crests into fig and walnut on the pallet, think fig newtons. The red wax capsule was cracked, and the cork …
