Piero Busso, Barbaresco, Mondino

Bought from a top store and put straight into my temp controlled cellar. Nevertheless, this is quite brett infected. No excuse for this these days, when there's plenty of money to keep a clean cellar. Undernearth the band aid there's a nice wine here, but it's like one of those Loire cab francs where you either like the brett smell and you can drink it, or you don't like it and you sort of choke the wine down.

Pop n’ pour in a Grassl Cru. What a gorgeous wine. Heady floral perfume complemented by delicate aromas of raspberry, sour cherry, leather, anise, and chestnut. Lithe on the palate, with super refined tannins and refreshing acidity making this immensely drinkable now, but clearly this wine has its best days ahead of it in such a great vintage. Need to try other cuvées from this producer.

The bouquet reveals from the get go that we are in Piedmont. The palate has lovely chalky and earthy texture, lively and super fresh fruit, very elegant with good depth, no sign of ripeness. Gum drying tannin provides age worthiness. Deceptively simple medium finish. This is an excellent Barbaresco from an exiting vintage.

Garvet læder, røde kirsebær, søde modne jordbær, lidt jord og spearmint. Medium syre og relativt afrundet medium+tannin. Helt clean.
