Hugh Hamilton The Scoundrel

Light bodied, still with bright colour. A bit of cherry and spice but not a complex wine at all. Ok with gourmet hamburgers.

Still mid red, not much age. Cherry/red fruits. Porty? OK, not great.

This wine has come into its own. The schnoz shows strawberry/raspberry (with a hint of white chocolate). The mouth has an awesomely well balanced acid/tannin/fruit(red) mix. Eat w/ game, not overly spiced foods. Anti-pasto, pasta all good. I suspect this one is at it peak right now, hook in today, not tomorrow.

Beautiful nose on popping - red fruit - kind of a sour raspreee coolee mixed w/ dry dusty cherries a dash of staranise/fennel/aniseed combined w/ a tiny bit of cloves. Some flowers almost honey suckle (which i think is weird - smells like a sweet (dessert) wine. Excellent acid/tannin balance - the tannins dry the mouth and the acid provides a lovely sour fruit aspect to it all. Nice drop. Not over the top fruit bomb, there is something here …

Every bit as enjoyable as it was when first tasted at the winery. This wine is everything a Tempranillo should be, lingering flavours, plenty of depth without being overpowering.

(Disclaimer - I first tried this 72 hours ago - however the notes are based on the remainder which were vacu-vin'ed and placed in the fridge and decanted and brought up to room temperature tonight) Nose - Its caspered - the smells have gone on a walkabout.
