Decanted 45 minutes, notes from day 3. Tawny garnet with clear bricking. Sweet licorice and raspberry bouquet. Cherry dominated mid-palate with strong acidity supporting a well balanced, long final. Polished and complex. Lovely wine. Sandalwood edge to the fine fine tannins coupled with bright, if perhaps slightly fading raspberry/cherry fruit. Love the nuance and poise here.

In front of the cherry fruit is a disarming sous-bois that attains a decidedly peated character that really reminds me of whiskey. Not a knockout Grand Cru, but an enjoyable and thoughtful wine nonetheless. Still some bite from some tannin and a healthy acid, but this is ready if not very close to perfectly ready I suspect.
