Schug Chardonnay Carneros

Deep yellow gold. The aromatics are the star of the show here. Some reduction, but lovely tropical fruit, lemon curd and pineapple. Full bodied. This is a bit past peak as it is quite one dimensional. One the positive side, the oak has integrated nicely. On themother hand, it is simply a pineapple/meyer lemon cocktail without much complexity in the way of brightness, intensity or finish. Good with a veggie pizza though.

The bottle said "Chardonnay" and it looked like a chardonnay, but the nose and taste said sauvignon blanc. Lightweight, grassy and tart - just like I would expect from a Sauvignon Blanc. I am almost thinking it was mis-labelled. I think it would be an OK Sauvignon Blanc, but is not a very good chardonnay.

Good weight and intensity, fresh and minerally, mid-Atlantic.

It´s the perfect round, buttery, oaky CA chard that everybody loves to hate.

Distinctive, almost Viognier-like floral characteristics and nice fruit. Not for the Oak & Butter crowd.
