Garnet core with crimson rim; roses, shag carpet, earth, sour cherries, clay, soft chocolate, leather, tobacco, coffee; dense, sour cherry and chocolate, plusher mouthfeel, orange, red currant, dried fruit; majority of us were in Italy.

even though the experts say drink by 2012 we founf this full of life. very rich. reminded me of a full smooth grenache syrah blend wine. really enjoyed it...

A bit off at first. Medium depth with smooth finish. Drinking nicely.

Big nose of dark red and black fruits, cedar and earth. Classic Bordeaux. Flavor was starting to head south, initially really strong black and red fruits with a very viscous finish. Didnt last long, fruits started to fade a bit and strong saline replaced the middle palate and drying took over the finish. Drink up, no decant, but a HUGE amount of sediment.

Dark cloudy core with crimson edge; aged nose of soy, sweetness, seemingly Italian; tangy red berry, big and tannic, some oak, chocolate, and good concentration.

Very hedonistic claret. A little bit too much wood but showing ripe currant, cassis, leather, and oak. Very rich, jammy and dense like '09 with sweet gentle tannins. Drinking well right now, probably won't benefit from additional bottle age.

Decanted three hours. Nothing special on the nose, a bit earthy. Sweet tannins that are subtle. Not much depth or complexity to this, but it is quite enjoyable. Drinking well right now, doubt it will improve, but also probably have another three or four years before it is at risk of declining. Some milk chocolate and certainly cherries. I bought this bottle at Bottle Rock in downtown LA near Staples center. One of the employees recommended it. As a Cote de Castillion wine, I was somewhat uncertain as I felt it could be hit or miss. Let me tell you, this was definitely a hit. Great rich flavors melding well with notes of oak and some slight signs of age. Wednesday afternoon at Kevin's : A nice everyday Bordeaux wine. On the nose floral, cranberry, gravel and cherry. The palate is much of the same but after an hour I did pick up a buttery note. Average acidity. Day 2: Similar to day one with a little more of a spice quality. Overall a smooth wine at this stage. Drink now!

Wednesday noon tasting, Bordeaux, CDP, and Shiraz (My house) : Medium to Medium-dark red with moderate bricking. Nose shows a prominent musty earth, with subtle fruits, cherry, fig. I found the palate to be a bit more acidic and the fruit quite tart with cherry and cranberry. I didn't get to come back to this with any extra time. A decent QPR at $20.

I saved this for an occasion when I planned to make quick work of red bottle, since I knew it would fall apart quickly. I put this straight to my head with some La Tur cheese and Triscuits and sun dried tomatoes. I finished this in an hour and it was definitely caving in. Not a sipper. Eat food with this wine and don't decant. You are racing the clock with this one.

Nice nose of currant, fig and plums. In the mouth a nice texture and palate of cedar and plum. Had it paired with a strip steak at Bern's. Nice well rounded wine.

Decanted 30 min. Not as good as the first one, thinner and less fruit.

Decanted 15 minutes and drunk over an hour. Less body and specifically fruit tha first bottle.

Uncorked and drunk over 2hrs. First sip showed nice fruit, then wine became more disjointed as tannins came out with some air. Evolved into something sooth and balanced after 30min and held up well for the next 90min. solid bistro wine at this point and totally ready to drink.

Candied fruit and spice on the nose. Nice texture, soft texture with good fruit and spice on the palate. Long, chewy finish. This was very nice and much better than the previous bottle.

Not much going on on the nose--jammy perhaps. Decent concentration of dark fruit on the palate, but not that interesting. Perceptible heat on the finish.

Drank over 3 days. Initial tasting was chewy with rough tannins, prominent oak, more prune than plum and a medium finish. The wine did not improve much after opening so this suggest it may be at it's peak.
