Dark and brooding with good fruit, well integrated tannins. Seems to be on its back end.

Drank over three days. I think day 3 showed best. It doesn’t have the animal or brooding flavors I associate with mataro. This tuned out to be soft and smooth. Blue fruits again with low acid and tannins.

Been saving this for a while as last bottle was just average but in retrospect probably needed more aeration. This did not initially start well as a brief decant did not help. Very inert light fruit with no tannins or acid I corked 1/2 the bottle and went to bed hoping for more on day 2. Day 2 she was ready to go. Delicate and soft for this varietal. Blue fruits I suppose. Best as stand alone wine as it …

As before. Drinking very well now. Blackberries with great balance, some acidity still.

Great blackberry fruit from this bottle. Rarely made by Ridge, but worth seeking out when they do.

Deep dark center, red rim with a little signs of age. Sweet, jammy, smokey, blueberry and grape jelly, eucalyptus, wet stone. Smooth, grapey, earthy, intense mixture of cherries and blueberries, alcohol is present, modest tannin and acidity, some oak, good fruity finish. Interesting Rhone-type wine, intense, unique in my experience, drinking well now. Somewhat rare Lytton bottling.

Nice Monday Wine. Clean well made. Easy drinking, nice restrained fruit, balanced. Ridge makes making seem easy to me. QPR is good

I feel this wine will drink better younger than older. Followed over 4 hours and was starting to faded and fall apart. Became very grapey and disjointed after 4 hours.

PHMG WAG: Ridge Vineyards (Monte Lyon) : This benefitted from the pairing with black truffle toasts. Earthy on its own with black fruit, spice, and damp underbrush notes. Nice long finish, good QPR @$30. Now-2019

Aroma: Green pepper, cedar and black pepper. Palate: Characteristic Mourvèdre. Earthy dark berries with notes of clay and loam. Only moderate tannin makes it drinkable now. Would benefit from a few years in the cellar. Light to medium body and structure. Good to very good.
