Château Bel-Air Lussac Saint-Émilion

Still a nice and lovely wine. This is my 4th 375ml bottle. 2009 is one my all time favorite vintages. Traditional french and more approachable at this point than the 2010s. Drank this on the evening after visiting the Thomas Jefferson Wine Festival at Poplar Forest.

Still drinking nicely. Beautiful St. Émilion nose. The 2009 vintage is so elegant and lovely. So far it shows better than the 2010 but I expect that may change will time.

Couldn't put my finger on exactly what turned me off about this wine, but I came away thinking that the "purity of fruit" was not there. Could have been an iron or iodine note that added to my distaste. This was from Magnum, and the bottle was finished at a holiday party, so it couldn't have been very bad. I'd say the current "85" average is probably about right.

Very nice and easy to drink now. A little high in alcohol(14%) but overall a nicely balanced wine. Will likely age well when the tannins mellow with time. The '09 seems to be a much better year than the '11; likely because of a better growing year.

Very good aromas of black currant, medium body a little too tannic needs a few more years in the bottle
