Sophie Evans Pinot Noir

Bought at Montrose restaurant, Edinburgh, but took away to dinner next night. Intriguing wet dog fur on the nose, along with cranberry and plum. Less appealing on the palate, for inchoate reasons, perhaps just too early for it all to knit together. Paired with roast chicken breast wrapped in bacon and herbs.

Really nice wine and felt noticable levels higher than most of English reds. Definitely straight in there towards the top end. Cranberry/red cherry nose plus something a touch mineraly, something a touch herbal. Some nice brett but very balanced. I wrote down "English barnyard, not French". Unsurprisingly great acid. Equally unsurprisingly light palate. Really enjoyed this.
