Very good. A wine with special qualities. Typical McLaren Vale. Rich dark berries with a touch of chocolate. Nice finish. Maybe a bit past its prime.

A good shiraz from a Hunter Valley winemaker? How can this be? Ah, I see, it's McLaren Vale fruit. Nice wine. Varietally correct nose and palate.

Thick and dark. Plums, oak, very ripe blackcurrant. Very mclaren. Smooth attack, very open palate. Intense blue and black fruits, ink and licorice, blackcurrants, a little sour cherry. Fine furry tannins and a smooth finish. Time has taken the edge off the intensity, but it's still a bit heavy and cloying.

Long finish with turkish delight start and blackberry ending. Can tell the grapes are McLaren Vale, small spice but no earth. Very deep red colour.

Three days in the Hunter Valley, 13 Cellar Doors, 115 wines; 2/24/2011-2/26/2011 (Hunter Valley, Australia) : Much bigger, jammy fruit here... this smells quite extracted. Pretty big on the palate and finish, with massive, jammy fruit coating the palate, and a drape of alcohol at the finish. Not my style.
