Beaurenard got a lot of fame out of this gorgeous effort for Rasteau. It’s totally understandable. A tiny production of 7 000 bottles, this beauty emerges from a soil of bleu clay, which supposedly brings deepness and minerality to the wine. Achieving yields of 25hl per hectare, this beauty is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, certified organic (label AB). Its robe is denser than the regular Rasteau, having an ink of plum profile. 2010 Southern Rhones (K&L Wines, San Francisco) : Dark color. Camphor and garrigue nose. Kirsch-like entry with dark cherry fruit but not overly heavy in body. Tannic core, lots of lavender pastille on the finish. A lot of wine for the money, and despite its rich fruit, it does not leave the impression of being overly fruity.
