Meaty notes, olives on the nose. Cherries and strawberries on the palette.

Wine with finesse. Medium bodied, floral, (lots of) white pepper, dried blackberry, pomegranate, ripe strawberry. Long finish.

Great QPR, nice black fruit flavours

More muted than previous bottles, despite some time in the decanter. Shy nose with a fairly lithe, acid palate - clear flavours of black olive and kelp, but without youthful plumpness or the smoothing of age they seemed stark and a little astringent. One to wait on, I suspect.

lots of floral elegance after opening for an hour. sweet red cherries, on the ripe side. blueberries. some stalky greenness, even some black spices. it is a cool place, but with sunshine. not lots of complexity, but quite a perfumed Syrah nose. only medium bodied, chalky, medium and rather fine tannins. quite juicy, almost lip smacking. similar aromas, with more meaty, savoury complexities underneath. quietly elegant, not as floral as the nose. should still improve in the bottle a few …

Very brambly. Nice but not exceptional. Better after 2 days open and out

Strangely disappointing - all the right notes are present and correct but it’s smaller scaled, far less intense than I’d expect. Ripe black fruit, some beef stock and olive, white pepper, ashy- but like somebody’s turned the volume down. Unsatisfying.

A trio of Friday Syrahs : In my mind there's two types of SA Syrah - the slightly fleshy, oaky, boozy type that are well put together but don't really thrill, and the edgy, fun, engaging kind that make you stop and go - yeah. This is 75% the latter and 25% the former - NEARLY exciting, NEARLY gripping but...doesn't quite get over the hump.

Fruity/Raspberry aromatics, bit more savory & tannic compared to "Stars in the Dark". High quality and impressive Syrah.

Minimalist Wine Tasting : First off, it was a delight how different this wine was from the Stars in the Dark, despite being vinified similarly. At first, it was very savory, in a different way from Stars, but with more fruit and aromatics that made you want to sit there and just sniff it. With time, it reminded me more of really great Syrah's from (cool climate) Australia or Spain. Lots of fruit, lots of peppercorn, even a little citrus. …

Pale, translucent ruby. Very fine nose with raspberry and black tea. Midweight with minimal tannin and a light, persistent finish. Elegant cool climate Syrah.

Good but a bit too much new world sweetness. Had another wine from this producer with an amazing white pepper nose, this was not present here.

A beautiful translucent ruby in the glass. Incredibly pure and precise blackberry, black cherry and raspberry on the nose. Wafts of fragrant, earthy herbs and spiced black tea. Very primary at this youthful stage but with supreme precision and delineation. The palate is just pure elegance with a medium body, fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Lovely, long cracked black pepper touched finish. A fantastic, pure expression of cooler climate Syrah. Just incredible now so I would recommend opening one if …

Visually it was ruby, low opacity with violet hue and minimal thinning to the edges. The nose was red fruits, wet stone, mushrooms and bacon fat. On the palate it was medium plus acidity, light bodied and chalky in texture. The body is light and the fruit red but the flavors deep and complex with a long clean finish. Delicious.

Bright, fresh fruit that seems very precise and focussed rather than blowsy and all over the place. This is a good start. There is plenty of presence of the Syrah spice box, but not so much, some but not much, of the pepper that seems to be the fingerprint of South African Syrah. The spice aromas of perfectly ripe Syrah are delicious and moreish. Sniff and sniff some more! With the bright, fresh fruit, spice box and a slight hint …
