Decanted around an hour prior. Light/medium body. No heavy dark cherry rather light. Seems the fruit had thinning out in comparison to last bottle. Maybe the bottle? Still good.

Massive tannins. Probably needs another 10 years.

Nose shows smokey notes of nutmeg and graphite over concentrated fruit (cassis). Palate shows powerful fruit (blackcurrant, plum) balanced by strong, sour acidity. Flavour feels a bit closed, but the tannin (firm, focused) feels ready to drink (as long as its paired with rich, heavy food). I think it needs a few more years to reach its peak.

Lot of conflicting opinions on the boards on this one. It's unusual, but not in a bad way. Drinking fine now and no reason to hold for the long term. Give it plenty of air if you can. ps, I bought it for a bargain price, so PQR was excellent.

Dark red and black in color this fruit forward merlot has a notes of plum, raspberry, blueberry, pepper, cocoa powder, vanilla , and dry dusty minerality. With a velvety and tannic mouthfeel that is quite enjoyable and a short finish for a wine of this size. Drink now as this wine will be gone in three years.

Thought this might be heading south (like my bottle of 2007 was) but hanging in there. Still some good dark black fruit there - quite heavy and powerful wine for a Merlot.

There’s an expressive nose here, or blueberries, plums, a hint of raspberry, blackberry, and some smoke. On the palate the tannins and acidity are nicely in balance, and it leads to a decent length finish of fruit veering to spice. For a merlot, this seems quite powerful drop, and at $25 on the secondary market, a great bargain. Not worth the $70 retail price.

Nice drinking. Flavoursome bouquet of plum, blackberry, blueberry, chocolate and oak. Smooth but present tannins. Decent finish of more fruit backed by subtle spice and chocolate notes. Quite powerful for a merlot. Drink with flavoured chicken or lamb.

Tasty with pepper and herbs. Long, but not too complex finish. Nice buy at the discounted price, but way overpriced at full cost.
