This is a great QPR bottle. Goes to show that a good wine does not have to be expensive. Drank it Wednesday - so my notes are from memory. Bold fruit with subtle spices. Good, not too strong tannins persist so the wine was balanced and not over the top like so many inexpensive syrahs. I like it!

A little darker and earthier than ZM' more recent vintage syrah, it nicely shows its age.

A real meaty smell out of the bottle with blackberry, raspberry, oregano (?), other spices, and some heat. The fruit is a little thin on the palate with mouth-drying tannins, and a ton of black pepper. Alcohol is noticeable for sure. Good QPR.

Not your high alcohol fruit bomb typical Syrah. Muted blackberry fruit with a slightly tart finish. I would probably drink now because I don't think it is going to get any better.

Wonderful syrah, especially when it came from Costco. Great nose, long finish, no complaints

Dark and intense. Dark cherry and mocha with a bit of raspberry. Relatively short finish.

Yes! Never go wrong with Zaca Mesa Syrah. Full bodied, smooth, a little dry.. well rounded and deep. My fav.

Aerated in glass ~30 minutes. Deep mature purple in the glass. Oak, blackberries, touches of spice and smoke. Drier and earthier than most CA syrahs I've had, which is not a bad thing for my tastes. Good complexity on the medium finish. Drinking well now.

Boerne Wine Club - Syrah and Zinfandel (Scenic Loop Cafe) : Nose of mostly coffee, chocolate, earth and oak. Dense fruit packed palate adding to the scorched earth and mocha flavors. Lengthy complex finish. This was a surprise for me as I haven’t been greatly impressed with their other offerings in the past. 91 My #4 Group #8

dark purple tooth-stainer with brambly blackberry, plum, mineral, a little herb and smoke. This is a heavy, big wine -- quite extraced but not from overly ripe fruit. Lots of grape tannin and american oak, maybe a little out of balance in this regard. It would benefit from a little more residual sweetness (it's quite dry) but all in a decent bottle.

Deep dark and almost black. Dark fragrent nose of dark fruit with a touch of smoke and leather. This syrah is bold but not with bright over the top fruit. No this syrah attacks you with dark fruit, smokey leather and deep rich soil. Tannins still present but well rounded and not harsh. Finish held up to Tri Tip and baked beans. This is a fantastic syrah and a steal in my book since I got two bottles during the …

Overtones of Exxon never quite blew off. A bad bottle perhaps? I become less and less impressed with Costco's wine care skills with each bottle I buy there. I'm really really going to stop buying wine there.

Excellent Syrah at this price point! Big and lush wine, with a powerful wood background. Nice fruit, nice feel, very well made. Will surely pick up a few more while they're so cheap at CostCo.

A beam of fresh-cut wood detracts from an otherwise luscious fruit- and spice-filled syrah. At under $10 a bottle at BevMo's 5-cent wine sale, however, it was a deal.

Great entry level Syrah. With 2 hours of decanting, notes of spice, dark berries and oak and an easy finish.

Through the vinturi. Color is deep purple. Nose is fruit forward, with a little spice. Decent syrah feel in the mouth, solid tannins carrying the fruit. Finish lasts a while. I agree with others on this. Great value for a solid syrah. This one was a pleasure to drink, and all the better at the price. Accompanied a grilled fillet prefectly. Second day. Left opened overnight on the counter. Softened a bit, but all the basic characteristics were there. It …

This Syrah is low on fruit and high on smoke, tar, leather and cocoa powder. Briary berries in the finish make for fascinating complexity. Just a little too much tar and smoke for the meal I paired it with. Fruit came out over time. Not rating this time since I'd like to wait for a more objective tasting.

What a fun little syrah. Not overly complex, but well-made. It's a steal for $10.
