Amane. Courtesy of Shoshana. This is a massive wine, and that's despite being opened 3.5 or so hours ahead of dinner. It's big, dark, but also has some of the very slight Gevrey funk you might expect. Some great kirsch cherry on the initial palate, but this is just absolutely massive despite the air given to it. The finish is interesting with a paint thinner note to it that I pretty much never get on Gevrey. I expect this will …

Picked up at the supermarket for 25 euro. A straightforward, quite structured village Gevrey. A wine with limits, but it is clearly of village level at a regional appellation price point. Nice overall balance and good quality to the fruit. Speaks of its origins without obvious flaws. But not extraordinary in any sense.

From an extremely Limited wine list, fueled by a good vintage this came across as the best choice at Hurtigruten. We were able to give it 1h decant, but temp was entirely wrong when it came to our table. Just kept on improving from there. Extremely light at first it added some depth with time. SLDS July 2016 : Cherry, spice, licorice, some roast meat and raspberry. The pairing of sweet and savory fruit is excellent, with the bright acidity supporting and lifting the wine. Excellent length and balance. Delicious already.

Couleur assez pâle aux reflets grenat . Le nez est très beau, invitant. La maison a concocté un très bon Gevrey , malgré le millésime parfois ingrat. Il est encore un peu fermé , aux accents fumés , et même aux tannins un peu mordant, mais il n'aura besoin que de quelque mois , tout au plus une année pour fondre tout ça... Beau petit village... 2015 Tasting at Domaine Armand Rousseau : A very different aromatic profile: dark fruits, tobacco leaf, black spices, smoky barbequed venison and savoury nuances. The wine was very closed on palate but with good flavour complexity including suggestions of dark soil, game meats, dark cherries and espresso.
