Good albeit generic old red BDX wine in profile and flavor. (Bottle last year was totally shot.) Enjoyable.

Decanted for about an hour and it’s really in a good place now. According to the winemaker’s website this wine spent 6 years in new French oak and you can definitely tell, but not in a bad way. The nose is woody like a forest in the fall with hints of baking spices and worn leather saddle. The palate is really singing too with notes of bright red berries, gravel, green tobacco leaf and new leather. Tight but smooth tannins …

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #142; Vertical De Toren Fusion V plus some ringers (By RG) : Red berries, autumn impressions and some oak in the bouquet. On the palate juicy, sweet spices, fresh acidity, elegance and development. Very good wine which is a little bit too old now, or is it the bottle? No score for tonight, but I can imagine this could be a 90(+) wine.

Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Pinot Noir blend Transparent, bright red. Polished tannins and an ever so slight drying-out of fruit are the only signs of age. Cherries, plums, chocolate, nettles, mint, fairly complex. Light-ish in style, elegant.

This was phenomenal! Easily taken for a cru Bordeaux...in fact, in a blind taste, it would knock the socks off many of them. Great depth in aroma and taste, with spiced plums, black berries and tobacco on the nose. Tannins remain pronounced, so I think this can age for quite a while longer. Elegant finish that keeps the fruit lingering. If you have the chance, I'd choose this over a Cantemerle any day.

This is a tasty blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Pinot Nero, which sees six years of aging in large Slovenian casks before bottling. Ripe plum, black currant, dried herbs, sweet baking spices. Dry, and restrained, with medium (+) acidity. Good by itself and even better with food.

aging: 6 years in 220L French oak barrels and 6 months in the bottle sweetness: dry alcohol: 13% The wine looks inky colored. It smells like blackberry, mushroom, strawberry jam, cinnamon, vanilla and eucalyptus. It tastes like blackberry, cranberry and burnt. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.

Quite surprised with this wine, a seldom seen blend including Pinot Noir! Nose has quite an aromatic depth, lots of cherries, herbs with some spices, nice complexity too. The palate has also lots going on. Cherries, anis and a bit of wood but all in balance with a good dose of acidity to keep it fresh & vivid. Nice mid palate also with some sugar plum action. Nice lengthy finale on asian spices, quite persistent. This wine is quite smooth …

A very interesting wine, my first Slovenian. However, I found it most comparable to an Italian wine. Medium bodied, great acid, satisfying but light mouthfeel. Incredible nose, lots of leather, spice, earth, cherries, plums. Similar experience on the palate. This bottle is worth seeking out.

Probably paid to much for this through IWM HK. Eight years out and this has still not found its balance, doubt it ever will. To heavy with the oak, a bit overwhelming. See how it does overnight after re-corking.

sethmlong captured every essence of this wine in his reviews below. one addition: this wine can use some more time in the bottle, and wished i decanted for 10 hours instead of 1, as it grows exponentially in depth and breadth and nose with each passing minute. it's off-putting at first and thoughts of Marilyn Merlot danced in my head but they were quickly squashed with time.

Such a wonderful wine. Merlot (50%) makes this wine plush and juicy, the powerful Pinot Noir (30%) fruit remains vocal and spiced a la Vosne Romanee throughout the bottle and benefits from the small chorus of Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) which adds a bit of cool climate structure and back up the spice and fruit. And then you find out it spends 5 years in oak. What a wine.

Showing no pleasure until last half glass two weeks after opening. I loved this at a release tasting. Now, I'm uncertain; if you have it, sock it away for at least 15 years.

Such a nice wine. After reading several articles about the vintner and having it several times, it tastes like a old friend: interesting without being over bearing. Not tiring. And you want to experience it again. Nice stuff.

good ruby color, beautiful perfumed nose, medium to high tone bouquet. smooth on entry, red fruit, long length, very intense but weightless, medium body, has breed, almost reminds me of a spicy, floral vosne romanee, very nice wine.
