Germany & Austria WIMPS #198 27th February 2026 (La Trompette, Chiswick) : Single bottle bought some years ago. Initially spun sugar, baked apple and clove on the nose. Some raspberry in the margins. Returning over the course of the lunch a number of savoury aromas come and go; butter fried sage leaf, chestnut pie and fresh pastry, also a touch of honeysuckle. Palate is dry and bready on opening with some apricot kernel bitterness building through the mid palate. After …

Monthly tasting club LTC; No real theme, Fully blind challenge. (By me @ LWH) : Fresh and expressive bouquet with citrus, yeast, pear and apple. Same on the palate. A firm amount of focused acidity, some minerals and bitterness in the finish. Very clean and refreshing.

A private dinner (Restaurant Atelier **, Munich, Germany) : Quite a yeasty and even nutty style, ripe fruit, modern and vinous, ripe green apple flavours, good length. Very winning in its way.

Game dinner with friends Champagne and Northern Rhône : In the (blind) Champagne line up this wine stood out because it was different. In the beautifully fresh bouquet lime and some impressions of honey (without being really sweet). On the palate tasty, focused, full bodied and also elegant. Beautiful sect.

Not very Champagne-like but performed very well as a ringer in our Champagne-tasting. Great, creamy lemoncurd palate, very refreshing and very very nice. Highly recommended.

12,5% alcohol. Pale lime green color. Quite lean and green-toned nose with aromas of steely minerality, tangy green apples, some sappy herbal tones, a little bit of autolytic toast and a floral hint of apple blossom. The wine is light-bodied, lean and steely on the palate with crisp flavors of tart green apples, tangy lemony tones, a little bit of leesy yeast, light green tones of herbal spice and a touch of white flowers. The wine is very sharp and …

On the nose creamy with notes of lemon zest, white stone fruit, red apples, chalky minerality, hints of brioche. Very precise and bright on the palate, more linear then I remember the 2013 to be. Good length and balance. 89-91

"Sparkling Wines from around the World (blind)"-Series, Wine 7: The wine was medium yellow-golden in colour, with medium-intense, very fine perlage. It had a restrained nose, with some stone fruit, some apple, toast and some smoke. On the palate the medium-bodied wine showed ripe apple, peach, lemon, almond and toast, with fine, creamy mousse, high, slightly tart acidity and very good length of the acidic, lime-infused finish. As it turned out, I liked this bottle better than the bottle I …

The wine was medium yellow/golden in colour, with fine, medium intense perlage. It offered ripe apple, citrus, a hint of peach, lemon effervescent powder, toast, brioche and smoke on the nose. On the palate the medium-bodied wine showed citrus, lemon, apple, some underripe peach, almond and toast, complemented by lime and grapefruit on the finish, with high, lively, prominent acidity and very good length of the acidic finish. A very young Sekt that will need some time to pull itself …

Straw color with medium-sized bubbles. Nose: golden/green apple, lemon/lime citrus, and white fig with accents of wet slate, white flowers, sourdough, and a hint of petrol. Medium/lighter body with relaxed effervescence on the palate: green apple, lemon/lime citrus, and tart green raspberry framed by sourdough, lime peel, and a salty/oceanic minerality. Aggressive acidity. Lingering lime peel and salty/oceanic minerality on the moderate/shorter finish. Crisp, refreshing afternoon bubbly. Straightforward and quite tasty. Drink now.
