Wine has improved with age. Still very much intact with very minor oxidation. Could stay in bottle for 5-7 years for sure. Drinking nicely and group tasting couldn’t believe age.

HL Chilean wine night. Three Neyens, two Clos Apaltas, and one Sena vintage. Last bottle of the case. Decanted due to broken cork. Classic cassis with earthy loam and cocoa notes. Tannins completely integrated. Long finish. This has developed into a magnificent wine, and seems at its peak right now (wouldn’t hold longer.) WOTN vs ‘06 and ‘15 Neyen, or ‘06 and ‘16 Clos Apalta. Paired with braised short ribs.

A private lunch (Restaurant De Lage Vuursche, Lage Vuursche, NL) : Large-scaled, classical style, dusty and cedary, cassis, cherries and spices, mature but lively, fresh and structured with firm but ripe tannins, broad-shouldered, savoury and flavoursome, coffee bean and cocoa bean, hint of back-end heat, very good length.

Decanted for 0,5 hour, in the nose dark berries, the black currant is in the background. Not the massive barrique taste I guessed. the 14% alcohol are really well integrated. A blend of 80% Carménère and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon from 35-120 year old vines. 14.5% alcohol. Opened at Smoke in Miami with Emilio. Not decanted. Dark purple color. A round and medium bodied wine. Notes of ripe berries and currant. Chewy tannins. Round finish. 92 points.

Mini-vertical, tasting '05, '08, and '10. This remains my favorite vintage of the ones I've tasted. Cassis with hints of cocoa and earth. Took some time to open, but then seemed at peak, smooth with well-integrated tannins. Medium finish. No sense that it wil not last for another decade.

Upped my previous rating. Black inky red color, black currant and black cherry nose - no menthol as indicated by RJonWine. Black currant, black cherry and cola on the palate. Maybe some burnt black currant, but I think it is the cola currant combination. Wonderful long finish.

Combined Wine Night (Pine Close) : Poured through Vinturi into decanter and drank over 2.5 hours. Appearance is deep inky intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Decanted two hours and enjoyed it much more than past tastings. Noticeable fruitiness but balanced. Hints of oak but hard to pinpoint. Very good Wine from Chile.

Full bodied with some complexity on the nose, this wine was thoroughly enjoyable after a few hours of decanting. Deep colored with hints of spiciness. The finish could round up more nicely but this wine has great potential. Looking forward to drinking the 4 bottles I have left in a few years.

A very nice Chilean wine...nicely balanced. Carmenere/Cab...deep color, chewy, strong dark fruit - cassis, currants. Unfortunately we did not decant long enough, - needed a couple of hours, but enjoyable just the same.

It smells and tastes exactly what you can expect from a expect from a top Chilean wine made of Carmenere (70%)....lots of ripe red bell pepper, guava and a hint of mint with well dosed oak. Full bodied, slightly astringent. Good, but not up to the same level of the 2005. I'll let my other bottle resting for another 5 years. 90+

This wine is still going strong, with blackberries and a hint of cocoa on the nose, and structure unchanged from earlier years notes: light, fine tannins, but very smooth, sweet wine.

Carmenere. You like it or you don't. This is a typical carmenere and great for an up the fairway blind. That said, it isn't my favorite grape no matter what Ron Denner says. Stewed tomatoes, dark fruit, and then green leaves. Cab/merlot on the nose, a little less in the glass.

We attended the Big Red Tasting at the DG Wine Shop and we discovered this very interesting wine from Neyen a blend of 80% Carmenere and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate the wine was very smooth with a hint of tobacco and soft tannins. This wine was very easy to drink with an excellent finish.

Store Tasting (Roseville, MN) : This is somewhat of an odd duck. 80% Carmenere, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. I loved this wine and my wife did not. I found the earthy and spicy earthy absolutely inviting and enveloping, with long legs and firm tannins. My wife considered this a food wine with spice, a powerful long finish, and not yet ready to drink. So in our family the jury is still out!

This is a fruit driven wine with notes of cassis and powdered cocoa. Very extracted with fairly intense flavors, good body, and soft tannins. Not much in the way of complexity, but may fair better with a bit of age.

Intense ruby color with violet hue. Good aromatics of black and red fruit, cedar, licorice, coffee and herbs. Great acidity balancing a big, full bodied and slightly alcoholic wine. Nice persistence. There's still life ahead, but this beauty is already drinking great with game and rosted meats.

One of the better wines from Chile I have tasted, but not quite living up to the price tag! The quality is above good and I could not tell it was a Chile wine, in a positive manor. Normally they are to sunny/jammy for my taste but nice complexity in this one. I don´t think it will get any better so open and have a taste!

What a difference compared with the first bottle years ago!! Velvety structure, very good balance, good intensity. Red fruits, toasty, a hint of cedar that does´t bother. Great wine that can evolve few more years.

Gorgeous on the nose with screaming ripe forest red fruits, oak and hints of liquorice....really nice On the palate, this is full bodied, balanced, round with elegant tannins medium-long aftertaste. This is astonishing! Recommended!

Poured through Venturi without decanting. Deep ruby-purple color. Black fruit on the nose with secondary hints of chocolate and earth. Silky smooth on the palate, blackberry again. Lovely, better I think, for the elapsed time since I last tasted, but still developing. Coincidentally, paired again with beef tenderloin--and a fantastic mushroom and goat cheese 'Wellington'. Ooohs and aahs from the crowd. Thanks, Joanna for the gift!
