Willi Schaefer, Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese, Mosel

Did not take proper notes. Rich golden hue with fallow straw edge in color. Pungent nose of apricots, minerals and honeysuckle. Palate followed nose with great acid to balance the sweet. Long finish. Good wine with aging potential.

Great with curry but prefer others for the tarriff

Dinner at S.K.Y. (Chicago, IL) : #17-16, 7.5% abv. I freely admit that now is not the best time to open a bottle of this, but I had a hankering for some sweeter riesling and this was pretty much the only bottle on hand. In any case, the nose shows a little herbal tone, as well as a nascent cheesy funk (ah, yes, classic Sonnenuhr). The super primary elements have now started to dissipate, which exposes a pretty serious scaffold …

AP 17 16. Light green/yellow in color. Lots of flowers on the nose, clean without petrol. Still some sweetness but probably less than others. Honey, green apple, lemon and pineapple. Good acidity. Despite its youth, good drinking now.

At Mr. Wok's w Brian, Monica and Christie. Brian brought this. Shy aromas of flint, minerals, pineapples, orange, orange zest, and honeysuckle. Intense honeyed pineapples on the palate with minerals, herbs, and flowers. Fantastic acids with great concentration of flavors. Embryonic but so good.

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 9/14/2017-9/16/2017 (Chicago, IL) : Really incredible stuff. Honeyed and sweet on the nose, with a lot of sweet white fruit on the nose. This has a lovely density on the palate that is just so damn convincing. Bright white fruit that is just the hallmark of the vintage. Dense, sweet, and honeyed. So good. This doesn't have the huge minerality that the Graach wines tend to have; perhaps the vines aren't old enough yet?

Really liked this lots of tropical fruit some slate on the nose, feels a little lighter for a young auslese and a load of acidity keeping the rs in check really long and generous finish

Splendid, airy, orange blossom's water and ripe white orchard fruit. Very lively, sweet but not too much, pineapple, finish on lemon sorbet. Kept going for a couple of days.

375ml. AP 17 16. Pale yellow with green tint, so light in color. Peaches, oranges, and green apples. No petrol. Good acidity to keep the sweetness in check. Not very high viscosity, more like Spatlese than Auslese. Very nice, so far all '15 Willi Schaefer have been showing great. ABV 7.5%. Sweetness = 2/4. 1/6 bottles.
