Prior bottle was almost exactly one year ago and my notes were again consistent. Nose was virtually identical with lemon, lime, pear and flinty mineral notes on the nose. Between light and medium bodied with pear initially, adding white apple which also adds depth and roundness. Broadens through the middle as it adds white peach. But the most interesting part of this wine remains the backside and through the finish. Rounded lemon, more tart lime, other citrus notes and acidity …

White wines tasting (at my home) : this was somewhat odd-bottle - it seems as if it was way over the peak which is unreasonable for this Riesling - it could also be oxidized due to poor cork seaking Anyway, it was far below those similar bottles I tasted at the winery or at home

Prior bottle was 13 months ago and my notes remain quite similar. Lemon, very tart lime, pear and a flinty, mineral background on the nose. Between light and medium bodied with bright white pear and more rounded white apple upfront, adding white peach through the middle. Lemon, lime and lots of acidity on the back provide support and contrast. The acidity still feels youthful and dominant. As it continues to integrate, the wine should gain in balance and expression. I'll …

Prior bottle was almost 13 months ago and this wine has evolved along the lines I'd hoped. Nose continues to show pear and apple as well as strong lemon notes and has opened up a little since my prior bottle. Close to medium bodied and when it has fully opened up and resolved, shows rounded white apple with good depth, adding white peach through the middle and supported by brighter white pear. The lemon and other other notes on the …

7.0/10 - very good, nose - baked apple & pears, macadamia nuts, lemon citrus lift, palate - ripe golden apples, pear, tart citrus fruit, intense acidity balanced with present salinity and mineral notes, a FLX Riesling that drinks more like a French Chablis

Excellent dry single vineyard FLX Riesling. Somewhat salty & mineral w/a nice long finish pairing perfectly w/Thanksgiving dinner. Continued to open up & would suggest a good decant b4 enjoying. Lots of life still left in this one.

Prior bottle was 17 months ago and this wine and this wine continues to show quite well. Strong citrus notes on the nose (especially lemon and lime) along with pear and minerals. Close to medium bodied with white pear and white apple the dominant fruit notes. Starts to pick up some white peach through the middle as it warms while the apple and pear present both more expressive as well as more closed, tart notes (which helps complexity). Lemon, lime …

Prior bottle was 10 months ago and this wine remains in a very good spot. Nose was again white pear and apple along with lemon and mineral notes. The lemon was sharper when first opened, but as it warmed, showed a bit more complexity in the white orchard fruit notes. Nearly medium bodied with white apple, moving to white peach through the middle with some white pear highlights again making up the dominant portions of the fruit profile. Lemon and …

On opening (at fridge temp, too cold) this one was a big wave of lemon and not much else—thin on the midpalate. Give it a little time and a little warmth and, wow, it blossoms. Some brioche, some phenols, a little honeysuckle, more depth and weight on the palate. This is not an oily, resiny Riesling. It is fresh and acidic and very dry. But with air it filled out.

Forge is one of our favorite FLX wineries (we're club members). This is concentrated with a sizzling acidity. We took this to a Thai restaurant that that is byob and it was AWESOME. It was a good with a fried shrimp dish with peppers and onions and especially good with massaman curry. The best pairing of the night though was with spring rolls (?!) That was a new one!

Prior bottle was 10 months ago and this wine continues to show quite well. Mixture of white pear and apple, along with lemon and mineral notes on the nose. Close to medium bodied with the upfront white apple showing good expression and roundness. White peach adds depth through the middle while white pear contributes contrast. Good mix of lemon and acidity on the backside gives the wine structure and provides a good bridge from mid-body to finish. As compared to …

Gains weight and complexity with more air time, with initial notes of Meyer lemon and Jonathan apple supplanted by intense minerality and hints of vanilla cream. Lively acidity is the binder. Perfection with grilled salmon and wild rice.

No contemporaneous notes. Very concentrated, piercing acidity, intensely flavored. Lacking significant complexity but very flavorful. Slight oxidation came on after several (about 4) hours.

Previously tasted 5 months ago at the winery, this was my first from bottle. Saline and mineral notes, along with apple, pear and lemon on the nose. Nearly medium bodied (12% ABV) with rounded and open white pear and apple upfront. Mid-body is far more balanced than previously, showing white peach with a tart undercurrent and some white tropical notes in the background. Finishes with very good acidity, tart white apple, lemon and lime notes. The balance between mid-body fruit, …

Deeper color. The nose shows subtle aromas of peach, cream, salt, white tea and a hint of petrol. This is medium bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and very good class. The fairly long finish features some malolactic notes and a saline streak.

This carries some weight, with notes of nectarine, Fuji apple, Meyer lemon, and wet stone leading the way. Kind of oily too, in a Northern Rhone sort of way. Acidity and minerality in spades. Great wine.

Tasted at the winery. Previously tasted at the winery five months ago and the wine has improved in that time. Lots of saline/mineral notes on the nose, along with apple, pear and light floral qualities. Nearly medium bodied with a much more distinct and open fruit profile of white apple and white pear. Also shows a good mix of more rounded and open qualities couple with slightly more tart and acidity-tinged highlights. I didn't pick up any greenfruit notes this …

Previously tasted at the winery five months ago, this was my first from bottle. Apple, lemon and mineral notes on the nose, but not as aromatic as my winery tasting. Nearly medium bodied with white apple upfront, evolving to white peach through the middle. Feels a bit rounder and slightly less well defined than previously, but recovers nicely towards the back. Lemon and acidity on the backside provide the contrast needed to set off the mid-body white peach, adding liveliness …

Meyer lemon, white peach, flint, and hint of grass. Med+ to high acidity with med alcohol but well balanced with a round mouthfeel. Riper flavors than I typically experience in a FLX Riesling. Very nice wine.

Tasted at the winery. Strong mineral and saline notes along with mixed, white orchard fruits on the nose. Nearly medium bodied with white, but almost green orchard fruit notes upfront and through the middle. Some white peach does shine through, but for now, the upfront and mid-body fruit notes are somewhat more closed than I expected. The backside is where this gets interesting and bodes well for the future. The acidity and other tart notes come in, but then the …

Tasted at the winery. Very pretty nose with white apple, lemon and a flinty/minerally quality. Medium bodied with white apple upfront, showing good roundness. Adds white peach through the middle and shows more depth than the 2019 Forge Riesling Classique, tasted alongside. Acidity and other tart and citrus notes (particularly lemon and lime) come in on the backside, providing structure. The finish actually shows very good balance as the acidity/tart backside characteristics ultimately come together quite well with the mid-body …

Straw yellow. Nose is very appealing with a bright green apple aroma, lemon curd, hint of musk. I was wishing for petrol but didn't find it... Palate is rich yet lively, good acidity, a very pure Riesling character. At the tail of the palate the wine picks up a distinctly saline minerality that one could even describe as a hint of bitterness; it works very well here. With the Navone, this was the best wine in the 2019 Forge lineup …

A new site for Forge coming from the western shore of Cayuga Lake. Straw colored, with a varietally characteristic nose showing lime and grapefruit with a slightly musky note that the winemaker describes as flint and beeswax. More rounded on the palate than the Railroad, somewhat low acidity, good mouthfeel. This site is notable for loamy clay soil, and gets a bit less heat on very hot days because the sun is blocked by trees at the end of the …

Every thing a classic finger lakes Riesling should be, bright and crisp with a fruit flavor I could not place and not a hint of sweet. A significant contrast to the 2019 Forge Railroad vineyard which I had recently which was dominated by lemon. At least for Forge the vineyard does make a difference.

Apparently from a site much closer to the lake than the Wagner Caywood East, but the same hamlet. Vines planted in 1972. Nose is fuller: orange blossom, white flowers, some herbs. The winemaker describes it as "macadamia nut, salt, energetic." It does share some salinity with the Wagner Caywood. More salty macadamia on the palate, plus tons of acid. Delicious.

No contemporaneous notes. With about an hour of air, this dry Riesling was excellent. Riesling nose. Medium bodied. Pure Riesling fruit, crisp apples, precise, with some viscosity. Served with shrimp, white wine sauce and angel hair pasta, salad. Age this for another year or give it air.
