I am not a fan of Bdx 2014 but I found this bottle in my cellar. Unexpectedly, this wine was quite enjoyable, mature, medium bodied, tannins integrated.

At nearly ten years this was very tight and austere initially; it took nearly two hours for this to start to unfurl. Presents as somewhat youthful, but definitely in early development. Medium ruby, medium plus body. Lean aromas and flavors of red currant, green tobacco, pencil lead, tart raspberry, sour cherry, all spice, oak mulch, and gravelly dirt. IMHO, gritty tannin, chewy oak, and high acidity has a way to go to reach complete integration. Requires time and hearty food …

Crimson to ruby with a slight orange hue in thin layers (in sunshine). From the start this shows a intense nose of cherries, beef broth, underbrush, cassis. On the palate this has become more balanced with some of its tannins shed over the last 5 years. Refreshing acidity. On the palate showing medium intensity with a long medium intense fruity finish. On peak from my warmer than textbook cellar, I guess. 5/12/16/8. -2032+?

Same as previous note. Rich deep mid crimson, nice fruit on nose. Good balance, red fruits, not too sweet, backed by enough tannin. This is drinking nicely just now and I don't think it will improve further.

Friendly, not severe, fresh and crunchy fruit, good citrus, nice bitters and surprisingly ripe tannins.

From magnum Benefitted from being opened three hours before dinner. Still tasting young with some initial acidity standing in the way of cherry-dominated fruit. Real pleasure after 4-5 hours when the bottle opened up. Good stuff, great QPR. Should easily last another five years

Fleshy with ripe fruit is never something I thought that I'd write about a St Estephe of less than 10 years old....but perhaps that's a 20th century stereotype now. This wine is a in a very good place right now. Rich deep red in colour with no browning at all and very little sediment. Tannins were more noticeable on day 2, and fruit less so. Still very nice, but probably needed food more on day 2 than day 1.

Der Wein ist trinkreif und offen. Er zeigt eine erstaunliche Trinkfreudigkeit und hat trotzdem tiefe. Vor einem Jahr war der Wein noch maximal eine 90.

Creamy red and black currant, pencil shavings. Not overly complex. Tannins are fully resolved. Does not strike me as a wine that will improve much more.

Red currants, tobacco leaf, espresso, and flowers are at the core of this medium-bodied, forward, easy-to-drink wine. Drink from 2022-2033.

Red rim, dark centre. Light sediment. Drinking well now, good weight, works well with food. Full and enjoyable. Tannin still grippy, good for at least three years.

Not the most nuanced but a sound, well-made claret. The 14's seem to all have a similarly restrained, and at this level, pleasingly forward character.

Purple. This is less open or less intense than the Lilian Ladouys. I believe the latter, though le boscq achieves higher prices. Neverthess, dark berries and some roasty scents and flavors, nicely balanced with refreshing acidity and quite present and adstringent, but round tannins. With time it adds on more intensity on the palate. Maybe it is better in a decade, but I wouldn't bet. Seems a bit overextracted to me. 91 from Suckling, 89 from Wine spectator and 90 …

At the beginning of its drinking window IMO, good to go and will improve though it would be a shame not to try it at this age if you have several bottles. Still quite grippy so food choice matters - very typically St Estephe though less austere and more open than I would have expected. 2014 must have been a great year for St Estephe...delightful.

A ruby colored wine with great clarity this wine has notes of Cedar, bitter baking spice, baked blackberry, crumble, vanilla, gravel, white pepper, currant, blueberry and leather. The personality of this wine is Jammy, tannic, and raisin like with a velvety mouthfeel. Drink now - 2030.

Blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. This is highly aromatic with new wood and cherry aromas followed by some floral, earthy, and forest floor notes. It is full-bodied with firm, grippy tannins, and very good acids. Pleasing aroma replays on the palate and excellent finish length. A big, structured wine that needs 5-6 years of cellar time.

Dark ruby colour. Rich dark berry, toasted bread, and mushroom nose. Full and fleshy palate with good freshness and grip to balance; long, vibrant, smoky finish. 4.5/5

The nose is oaky yet there is a wealth of ripe, dark, red berries and sweet earth bold enough to compete with the initial essence of oak. Give this wine a few years to develop and come together. 87-89 Pts
